http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17062516 See how the beeb have twisted his words a little bit there? Anyway, I do not agree with what he says about the players not having to back his 'project' and surely his starting line up/****e subs contradict his adamant statement there? I mean if he truely didn't care what the players thought (obviously meaning the likes of JT, Lamps, Drogba, Cole) he wouldn't be picking them? Seems Roman will be sticking with him anyway judging by what he's said, but then again, he's not going to tell him he's THINKING about getting shot of him.
What is the worst thing any manager can hear ?? " He has the full backing and support of the Club " Hope it's true for once.
Brilliant If the rumours are true about some senior players undermining the manager via text (which I doubt) then they should be sacked immediately and removed from the club poste-haste.
AVB in or out? I'm torn. Want to see what his style of management/play would be like without all the oldies but I'll never forgive the **** for starting Bosingwa over Cahill and taking Mata off for Lukaku
Oh and I also have a feeling Roman is secretely thinking "I'll give him a shot at the CL before getting rid of a £13m manager"
I think its fair to say if we cop out of the UCL and finish outside of the top four, then he will go as sure as eggs is eggs. Get rid of the top five now and throw caution to the wind.
Agreed Starting with a trial line up at the weekend against the brummies, I wouldn't even mind losing if it meant seeing something new (as long as they try). To say we're missing Ramires is an understatement
I like it how the players assumed to lead the rebellion are the ones that are in line for the chop at the end of the season. I had my rant at AVB earlier in the week and now I am more accepting of him, but by no means confident.
I think you have hit the nail right on the Uncle Ted. The reason they are leading the rebellion is BECAUSE they are the ones who will be in line for the chop. Power corrupts, total power corrupts totally.
Any hostility towards AVB from the players has to be spearheaded by JT. Nobody else would have the balls to go over his head and oppose AVB. JT has regularly declared he ultimately wants to have a stake in future management at CFC, and he's definitely going the wrong way about it if Roman remains the owner. Roman needs to have a word in JT's ear and put him right!
I think JT would have been more supportive, though the support over Anton and the captaincy from AVB may have been trying to win him back who knows?
I am absolutely at my wits end this season, but he deserves the chance to clear out the dead wood and re-build otherwise we will just be going around in circles for ever. This has been a long time in coming, and even if we finish outside of the top four it is not inconcievable that we would get back in it next season...it happened to Utd... I hear a lot of bollocks about us being big and we should be here and should be there...What we have to remember is that we do not deserve anything, except a cohesive and comitted performance from our players which unfortunately is where it has fallen down over the last couple of seasons... If this flux is related to a few arseholes in the squad then let him get rid and then we can judge him on the team he builds, not Claudio and Jose's I still get wound up by him though...even as I am typing this
Very well said SW6 He deserves a chance but like you say it's incredibly frustrating at the moment. He's made some very good signings since he's been here and woth our pld boys out of the way he looks like he'll be able to replace them, his scouting experience will be very handy for us.
According to this mornings news the pro camp for AVB are Bosingwa,Ramires, Luiz,Meireles, Ferrera, Mata and Romeu. The antis are Mikel and Kalou. Sitting on the fence are Lamps, Torres and Sturridge! Not a dicky bird about the rest including JT. With the support of Roman I can see quite a few sent packing in the summer, CL or no CL!
Not that I believe a word the papers say but it's hardly suprising that the ones who play most weeks (ferrera aside) are supportive of the manager, the ones that dont aren't and the ones sitting on the fence, 2 who have been in and out the team and one who is in his view playing out of position. I could have compiled that list without any prior knowledge of the players. Ultimately AVB has to do what he thinks is right because it is his job on the line. I don't agree with everything he does but it is ultimately the players who aren't performing and need to step up. No good pining for a new manager when we wont be in the C.L next year at this rate. You wont get Jose or Guus back then.
The biggest problem I have with AVB is his team selection and tactics. With him it's all about favourites i.e Bosingwa, Luiz, Meireles, Malouda not about the form players. As much as I love Drogba I never felt he offered more than Torres in Novermber/December. Drogba was getting rave reviews for his goals against Valencia and Newcastle but I felt that was when Torres should have been given a go, that must have destroyed his confidence. Now we're stuck with strikers that can't score and we not really scoring more than a goal a game. (Man U being the exception and we still didn't win) I can't stand to see players like Malouda and Bosingwa who don't care parade around in Chelsea shirts. I can accept players who aren't good enough, what I can't accept is players that don't care. The Crest on the Front means more than the names on the back. Like or not we're stuck with AVB now so he needs to be given a chance. It was stick or twist and we're stuck. Sacking Carlo and hiring AVB was a massive gamble and if you make your bed you have to lie in it Top 4 or no top 4.
You are really making it hard for me aren't you? I've now got to add extra letters to your username **** off Ensil/Noah/KK/Anschutz
