Surely 2011 will end in 2012?

or did you mean "the WORLD will end in 2012" nonsense?

Regardless, there is far to much written and said about climate change by people who should know better. Basing climate change predictions on data that has ONLY been collected in the last 100 years at best, is nonsense. Its like basing probablity theory on the results of tossing a coin half a dozen times.

The studies carried out lack population validity and internal validity, thus lacking ecological validity. Therefore, I would take those limited studies with a pinch of salt.

Yeah I agree. Tim Oates, member of Cambridge University's exams board doesn't know what he's talking about. Nor does Sir Peter Williams head of the Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education.

Its japan, one of the worlds richest nations who have been coping with these things for ever.

In all honesty, any deaths are the fault of the japanese govt as much as the earthquake and resulting tsunami. Should be better prepared when you get 100s or 1000s of quakes every year. I mean come on, seriously, why are buildings collapsing?

    It just shouldnt happen.

Hope the people are ok though, just think a country with the wealth and experience of japan would be better prepared.

They prepare for earthquakes, but you can't really prepare for tsunamis. It's the wave that is doing most of the damage - when that much water moves at once there's pretty much nothing you can do about it...

In the reports I've seen buildings have been knocked over by the Tsunami rather than by the Earthquake and there is nothing you can do to protect a building from a Tsunami.

A lot attention will be given to Japan but we should remember the thousands of isolated Pacific Islands, many of whom will be completely destroyed by the Tsunami.

Just seen the videos. the sheer force of the water is incredible. Agree with berbnanidez however that the smaller islands could well be ones we should fear for.

Day five and everything just seems to be getting worse over there. Another 2 earthquakes today. This whole situation has really effected me in a thought provoking sense. Anyway was looking around the internet and eneded up on some christianity forum and found this, I was absoulutley disgusted tbh, "My heart breaks for the millions of Japanese people who have lost everything and are suffering, both physically and emotionally, because of the horrible tragedy brought about by the earthquake and tsunami in recent days. Yet, even more heart wrenching is the knowledge that tens of thousands have died without knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Their ability to choose the Truth is now over and their destiny is Hell.

Japan practices a syncretic form of religion, a blending of many religions. The most common are Shinto and Buddhism. Shinto is a polytheistic religion – one that worships many gods and deities; such as fertility, farming, wind, fire, rain, fear, happiness, etc. Buddhism is the worship of Buddha and is done in order to improve their “karma” and gain enlightenment, freedom, and peace. In Japanese religion today, the Shinto and Buddhist religious systems have been blended into a modernistic, all-accepting form of religious rituals that allow worship of practically anything that anyone would consider a deity to them.

Christianity is minimal in Japan, practiced by approximately ½ of 1% of the population. The real catastrophe of the earthquake and tsunami of March 2011 are the souls of people spending eternity in Hell. The hopes and prayers of Christians around the world should be that those who are left will find salvation in Jesus Christ. He is their only hope – John 14:6 and Acts 4:11-12. "

How someone can have the nerve to right such a disgraceful peice of garbage is beyond me. Reminds me why I would generally rather do without religious beleifs the world over.

Do you think you are the modern day incarnation of Mohammed?

Apparently the japanese had no manual shut off for the Nuke plant.

Again, they have not helped themselves in this.

can i ask, were any major cities affected by it? Not towns and villages? i ask because I would think there are cities in NE Japan and was just thinking, i have not seen anything on the news about them....just the smaller dwellings....

leads me to believe the Jap government decided some areas didnt need protecting.....

You have to remember that Christians believe that death is only the start of their eternal life. They're much like Gandalf in that way. They also wear funny hats and robes and have inappropriate relationships with little people...
