Just heard that most of the players did not even acknowledge the fans at the end of the game yesterday. Those fans that travelled all the way to Milan not only had to put up with the dross performance, but didnt even get as much as '**** you' from our players. Only Henry, Szczesny, and OXO went over to the fans at the end. Not only do these players not care about putting effort in, they dont seem to care about the fans. Arsenal87 - i just heard this from a fan on the radio - can you confirm???
If they did indeed snub the fans last night it really is a bigger disgrace. Just listening to Ray Parlour and he couldnt believe it.
I'm talking about the players. If they refused to acknowledge the fans, then it's heaping negativity on top of negativity.
Lets be honest , they were probably too embarassed to go over to the fans and get heaps of (deserved ) abuse. as Viera tweeted last night at the end of the game. Lack of leadership .
yes, it's true, it was Shezny, Henry, and Oxo who came along clapping. the rest just walked down the tunnel.
i wouldnt give a **** about any of them apart from RVP...as a captain he should have come over to acknowledge the fans...the fact that he didnt could simply mean he is too upset or the seed is settling in his head that he has had enough and wants out...Henry did it because he is leaving and at the end of the day i think he loves milking the praise...your problems are not his problems..he is gone and was just here for his own purposes...Oxo seems like a good lad who just loves football and any such experience is a new one for him...Goalkeepers usually have alot of affinity with the fans as they spend alot of time with the fans just behind them....so the relationship usually becomes a cult one...the rest of your team should feel emarassed..to be honest you made AC Milan look good....for god's sake you made Robhinio look good and he couldnt hack the Pl...as for Boateng...absolute rubbish....
I don't think we have enjoyed a great deal of leadership since the departure of Patrick Viera. Cesc was awful in this department and RvP slightly better. I once thought the right man for the job would be TV but really I'm not sure who we can count on in this department. Perhaps you're right about Chezzer. Being at the back he has a full view of the entire field.
Being a fan of RvP I would like to think that sheer disappointment got the better of him. As for how the captaincy is awarded, it appears that Arsene attempts to persuade players to stay by giving them the armband. Fabregas, even Nasri on occasion as we have seen. Perhaps Arsene rather sees it as a responsibility for someone who plays more at the front. More important than position is finding the right person for the job. However one can't really take the armband away from RvP now, can one? It would almost certainly hasten his departure. I think much of our ills would many been resolved had we brought in the right players when important figures left. Veira, Henry, Pires, the list goes on. The right leader will be a major factor for our success but both have eluded us for years.
RvP was the natural choice - a slightly firey very experienced player who has been at the club for years, and was already vice Captain. If he goes (which there's a growing possibility he will in Summer), the next Captain must be VOCAL - Henry last night was saying far more to the players than van Persie was. He leads by example, which is great, but you need someone in control on the pitch - Vieira style.
http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...disgrace-against-ac-milan-blasts-legend-petit Interesting points made by Emmanuel. He does seem to place the burden of blame entirely on underperforming players, young and old. If true, AW does need to develop the courage to drop these players if there is to be any hope of qualifying fourth. We've seen it time and again this year; in the big games how many go missing!
And replace them with who? The major problem is...again...insufficient depth. The first team is decent (except for last night!!) but the depth is appauling. If van Persie gets injured...what then? There's NO decent creative midfielder - Rosicky is playing his best for YEARS this season, but he can't carry the creative burden, and Ramsey simply isn't up to task yet. Replacement for Song...Coquelin?? Very inexperienced, and while he looks good, he's untested over the long-term. Arsenal are, as they always are, 2 or 3 injuries away from serious problems. If RvP & Oxo pick up injuries, kiss the Champions League goodbye.
Ummmn I don't think he's entirely laying the responsibility on the shoulders of the players Kentish If anything he holds the club just as responsible by which I assume he meant the management. Arshavin is a strange one. I thought I read not too long ago that he had a good record of assists. Wonder what the updated stats look like. EDIT - And I wonder as to why there was a need to merge the two threads. Not untypical behaviour though.
I think the mod whom I chose to ignore some weeks ago merged them presumably because he didn't like the title of Jayram's thread. He will say otherwise naturally.
