That would set tongues wagging Oddy, and after watching last years GC, I still maintain that the horse won despite the lump on its back.
Think he must have a crack at the CGC again after last years effort. Looks like he is being primed for a late season campaign, maybe the GN or Punchestown?
I wouldn't go that far but it is worth baring in mind that Mr S Waley-Cohen has had only 16 rides (1 Bumper, 3 Hurdles, 12 Chases) this season. And he has still yet to ride a winner under rules since the Gold Cup last year. He could easily be a bit 'rusty'.
Sam Waley Cohen isnt even a jockey, he has won a gold cup and a king george and should now do the right thing and hand the mount over to Gerraghty he cost long run the king george this year and although he will win the gold cup by default, long run will lose more races because of him he cant even get a mount outside his dad, that tells you everything
exactly. Look at the way he rides Long Run in the Gold Cup, he looks at least one class below the other jocks, but it just so happens that he is riding a very good Champion in Long Run who picks them up and wins going away. Some performance by the horse that day.
Just seen a horse called Thackeray running at Southwell - my best mate's surname. Hope it don't win now cos I'm not on
Thanks RV, but my new name is Diamond Edge, would you kindly refer to me as Diamond or Edge (depending on my mood both names could describe me), im no longer a wayward lad.
If the jockeys had have been switched in the King George i.e. Waley-Cohen on Kauto Star and Walch on Long Run would we have seen the same result? Discuss... In my opinion I think Walsh would have won on Long Run every day of the week as no way would Waley Cohen have conjured those race winning leaps out of Kauto...Interesting piece by another maestro in the saddle, Davy Russell on RTEs racing on Sunday talking about how important confidence coming from the jockey is fed to the horse...I'm no fan of Long Run or particularly his jumping but maybe having the public school boy on him is the real problem in his jumping?
The same applies for you, less of the mocking young man. Your not to old to go over my knee, you wont be the first young man thats had a spanking off me
