So we have seen some very good goals over the years , possibly The Best on record has got to be Dean Windass the Magnificent volley , That took us into the PREMIER LEAGUE. Who scored your favourite goal.
I bet a fair few will say Damien Delaney V Rochdale. There's a few up there, Deano at Cardiff and Wembley were amazing. Bostock's against Swansea is probably the best city goal I've seen in terms of quality, that was just out of this world. In terms of enjoyment Jimmy B at Sheff Utd is up there as well, and Stuart Elliott will probably have a fair few up there.
Zayatte always got stick for his own goals, but Anthony Gardner's was by far the best. He somehow managed, whilst facing the right way (away from his own goal) to kick a simple ball over his own head and Myhill's and just drop neatly in the net. Can't remember exactly who that was against, last season is a bit of a blur now, I can't even remember half of our results and yet I can remember most for the last 5 or 6 years excluding that season.
Not in terms of quality but, i think play off semi final first leg for both our home town boys to score in Barmby and Deano was amazing and really lead me to believe Wembley and the Premiership might become reality. It made it that much sweeter that those two scored.
Windass aside and for a different reason, for me Stuart Green, away Vrs Derby, decent strike, about 20 yards out on angle, but more importantly his goal, there equaliser (Howard penalty i think) and the result saw me win over ã600 on various match bets
Can you find a link? I can't seem to find it anywhere, I can't even remember who it was against but I've a sneaking suspicion it was also Everton. I have this picture of it in my head but I need visual confirmation that it actually happened, as I say, last season is all a blur.
Antonio Doncel with a screamer from 30 yards - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xaHBaRc4m0 Followed closely by Geo at Arsenal. For both I was sat directly behind the path of the ball and you could tell from the split second they were hit that the only place they were going to end up was the top corner.
Deano's will forever be etched in all Hull City fans minds for obvious reasons, a goal that will live on in my mind was Keith Edwards goal in the epic against Liverpool in 1989, we was 1-1 and that goal took us in at halftime winning 2-1, of course it was all dreaming but i was only 16 i'd just left school and getting into city in a big way.
Gardeners spectacular own goal was in the 2-2 draw at home to Wolves. Also was Tom Cairneys first league game I think. My favourite goal was Deanos at Wembley, closely followed by Geos Emirates wondergoal.
FOUND IT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Hk25uUpszY Chinese commentators, but whatever. 28 seconds in!
Richard Jobson scored a goal v Plymouth in the eighties that impressed me as a kid and sticks in my mind, just strolled up to the edge of the box and placed the ball in the top-corner, think we won the match 3-0?!
I could have sworn the one I'm thinking of was at the other side of the penalty box, maybe I am thinking of a Zayatte one after all. I mean that was truly awful, but the one I'm seeing in my head (and maybe it is just in my head) was facing at an even more favourable angle away from goal and it was even more spectacular that he managed to kick it backwards, let alone lob his 'keeper. I might have dreamt it
And I think it was against Everton in the 3-2 home loss. I didn't see the 4-0 loss in the Carling Cup so it can't have been that game. It must be the Zayatte one from the 3-2 win I'm thinking of.
He definitely scored a comedy own goal in this one, after Saha had got one back from the spot I think, though I can't find it on youtube. This game contained the very rarest of collector's items - a Dean Marney Premier League goal.
delaney v rochdale without doubt. i also remember a goal waggy scored that was replayed on anglia tele many many times against bolton i think. possibly around 1969 or 70. scored at the the old north stand end
