Some pathetic replies on here considering we were nearly in this situation. We overspent badly and we're shelling ridiculous money on daft wages.

But thanks to the Allams we got away with it.

Portsmouth Football Club Ltd or Portsmouth City Football Club.
There was a bloke in Portsmouth who noticed that the name Portsmouth Football Club Limited was available to register and thought it would make a nice present to himself.
When Portsmouth City FC Ltd went bust, his home was besieged by creditors.

is it wrong to take advantage of teams in this situation.

alot like the lad huskelepp or whatever hes called at pompey.

but i think steven davies from rangers would be brilliant for us, can unlock defences and score goals would be a great signing.

I think we might have Premier League competition for that one.

I vote for Pompey Panthers (2012)

Then they could move on to Pompey Panzers (2013)

    Then.........

the Rangers fans are banking on that their club is too important to everyone else in the league to fail...
football needs a wake up call and propping up failure isnt it.

Well with a population of 5 million, if they all chipped in say £15.00 it should get them out the ****. Hang on 4 million are Celtic fans......forget that one. The number two national treasure is doomed. :(

I'll tell you what mate- I wouldn't go around saying that when you support a club called "Hull"- probably the most depressing place name in Britain <laugh>

I guess your most recent award was the BBC's "worst place to live in England 2011"- enjoy.

On a side note- Huseklepp would never go yo your club- he will leave for a good team <ok>

Hull is the name of the river, the city is actually called Kingston upon Hull.

There's no such thing as the BBC's 'worst places to live' it was the bald bloke and the fat tart from Channel 4 that did a worst place to live list and it was in 2007. It was such a complete and utter bag of ****e that they never got to do another one and C4 got so many complaints that they deleted it from their website and replaced it with a list of the 20 worst places as voted for by viewers(and we're not on it).

That puts them level on points with Coventry and Forest and outside the relegation places on goal difference alone.

I've not looked into the story. Have they only got a 10 point deduction. There was something on the BBC about the owner misleading the football league which indicated they could get more than 10 points

BBC are suggesting it's possible they could be docked 20 points which would put them bottom of the league.

Also Gas and Electricity companies threaten to cut them off.
Would lack of electricity close down Fratton Park and finish the home fixtures?

My brother was stationed at Portsmouth for a while when he was in the RN and he said it was unanimously regarded as a 5hithole by sailors from all over the country.
He said the only entertainment was beating up the locals who were notoriously bitter because the navy lads nicked all their women.
