Big turning points which have changed games this season and ultimately could cost us a place in Europe....Obviously we have had our fair share of good luck but this is the bad luck

    Some i can think of...

    - David Luiz failure to be sent off against Chelsea changed the game which could have been a different story (even Saylor may not have got injured), which Colo also got injured affecting our game at Norwich

    - Cabayes Ban for 3 games against Brighton (hasn't been that bad except spurs)

    - Same game we didnt get a blaytent penalty

    - Penalty given at Fulham which was outside the box (pretty sure the linesman was that bird too)

    - Spurs...We didnt get a pen when Adebayor handled the ball but to be fair i dont think we would have got a result there anyway.

    - Bad luck - Ameobi being fit

To be the ref at Fulham gave the penalty, the linesman never even flagged for it.

On the other hand, the pen against Wolves that wasn't given got us 2 more points. There are others as well.

Can't forget Sunderland's 2nd keeper Larsson. I know we won the match, but it would have helped our Goal difference if they were down to 10 and we had a pen

The only thing that would help our goal difference this year is surgery.

The failure to send off Luiz and then the result that followed is the massive turning point our season took. We would be flying if it wasn't for that. Im a great believer in chaos theory and im convinced that we would have been in a much better position in the match and Saylor would not have ruptured his achilles and our season would have been in much better shape

Funny how we've had a lot less decisions off referee's since that game.

I'd say that evened itself out when we should have gotten a penalty for the fowl on Ba at SJP

Normally I don't like to believe in 'one bad decision' which changes a team's fortunes. Dubious Offsides/ penalty decisons/ sending off's are just part of the game always have been and always will be.

However, the game against Chelsea- more specially, David Luiz's sending off which wasn't- definitely changed our fortunes. Firstly, we'd have won that game, and most importantly, we wouldn't have lost Saylor for the season which has effected our fortunes majorly.

But let's say Luiz was sent off, we won the game and Saylor and Colo finished the game uninjured- then in the next game vs Norwich, Ba went and broke his leg, ruling him out for the entire season? That could have happened, but didn't. That's why we can't sit here and say one bad decision ruined our season.

Besides, we're still having an awesome season. I'm excited for the end of season run-in, would be great if we could give Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea a run for 4/5th place! <ok>

The way I see it, Newcastle are the side out of the chasing pack of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool who benefit the most from the ACoN finishing. If I thought they'd be in the position they are now before the ACoN started, I'd have thought you were crazy, but despite a couple of heavy defeats to Fulham and Tottenham, the rest of their results have been good and they are now in an excellent position. They now have Cisse, Ba, Tiote and Cabaye (back from suspension) available who would improve any of the other 3 sides involved considerably. They have just as good a chance as any other at finishing 4th. The only thing they lack is a quality centre-back to partner Coloccini in Taylor's absence. Williamson is okay but too static. He gets exposed to often against any kind of pace.

Good luck though, I fancy Newcastle to sneak it!
