Is this supposed to be an apology? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17042773 Looks to me like this grossly untalented g******e is attempting to deflect the criticism (and possibly his responsibility for the ultimate destiny of the match) onto our player and the officials. This bloke's got previous for this sort of behaviour - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/14978239 - but still Little Karl praises him for 'facing the media' and also accuses Kermorgant of the initial butt, presumably in an attempt to get the FA to review the video evidence and get him banned. So, who was at the game and saw this incident properly? If these accusations are complete s***e, the club needs to reply fast and decisively and put this pair firmly in their place.
Agree with the sentiment Tewks. However, I was there and only saw the tail end of it. I'd be very surprised if Kermogant is completely innocent! I'd just rise above it all and leave Robinson et al to further sully their already sliding reputations.
You could see his sending off coming from the opening 10 minutes. Seems like a player who when "up for it", can't handle his emotions. Funny that both incidents have come in big games.
I'd agree with that, there is a discipline issue with Kermorgant which CP needs to address, you can see that from his gesticulations at away players in recent games.
I get the distinct feeling that I may have made a serious error of judgement here. Serves me right for posting about an incident I wasn't there to see for myself.
I think MacKenzie's comment of "Its a huge Stadium, half the crowd saw it" is rather untrue... the ball and play had long continued and no one here seems to have seen it. I dont think Kermit's discipline needs to be addressed, seems to me as though we have Bellamy type player on the pitch who enjoys winding up the opposition (and gives 100% every time), if they react its their own stupid fault. He's certainly on the way to "Cult Hero" Status
Rubbish Pat!! Kermorgant takes more than his fair share of knocks and rough stuff from our opposition. The fact he stands up to it and gives it back, sometimes with interest is precisely what makes him such a key player for us. Take the physical/confrontational edge away from him and he'll be half the player. Roy Keane is a case in point. Not the most naturally gifted of midfielders. However, his physical/confrontational approach and never say die attitude made him Imo one of the most influential midfielders in the history of the English game. Mr Kermorgant will more than do for me exactly the way he is.
No it isn't rubbish. However good he may be as a player isn't the issue. If other players can't get away with it then neither should Kermorgant. Even with Beattie being sent off recently he was involved in physical heavyhandedness with another away player beforehand. It has to be dealt with fairly and he's been getting away with it, a ref will soon spot it and deal with it, you can't have it both ways.
I don't know why winding up the opposition deserves cult status. Solly doesn't seem to do this, gets on with his football and was the only one yesterday who was 'involved' all the way through. Perhaps he deserves cult status.
I agree, Franco - Kermit is instrumental to the our success this season. He is a warrior. I can't remember the match now (Tranmere, perhaps?) but he took an absolute beating and ended up with more bandages than King Tut. Tewks - what is the g-word you use in your first post of this thread? Is it gargoyle. perchance? Pat - I think Solly has gained cult status this season. Last season, Paul Benson gained c**t status.
That's a very idealistic way of looking at things Pat. Whilst I respect the innocence of your view. Sadly life and professional sport is not all sweetness and light. The participants involved simply do not always go about their work in a completely sporting manor. The nature of football means you aim to get the better of your opposite number for the greater good of the team. If more of your players achieve that goal than the opposition, you normally come away with a positive result. It's therefore inevitable that in the quest to go one better than your opposite number, you will from time to time deem it necessary to deploy some of the dark arts that are part and parcel of modern day football. I have absolutely no problem with this whatsoever. I love Kermorgant's fight and determination to do well for himself and our club. Imo we are very lucky to have him, and i honestly wouldn't change a single hair on his head.
Franco Couldnt agree more with your sentiment. However, i doubt that the referees get it that wrong as far as kermo goes. Yes he probably winds up the hotheads like Beattie and Mackenzie simply by being gallic. Yes he is a physical player and will have an arguement in any empty stadium but unlike the players he is up against he seems to know where the line is and because he is a skill player as well, he invites the opposition to cross it before he does. We would certainly not be where we are without his contribution this season. That alone is enough for me to back him all the way.
As long as he doesn't get himself sent off I'm more than happy for Kermit to kick the sh**e outa opposition players I was at the ground Tuesday and if MacKenzie asked me if I saw anything my response would be nuff said
Don't see there being anything wrong with kermo- haven't seen him do anything more than battle with an opposition. In fact, I think he takes a beating in every game I see him- against MK he was taken out a couple of times before the sending off. He also never complains. When knocked down he gets right back up. Kermo = hero. Wish there were more players like him.
A physical game but one based on fairness. Kermorgant has got away with his fair share of incidents in games, whereas others do not, but because of the partisan nature of fans they are ignored. He is employed as a striker and not to take out other players in some form of malicious way. Eventually they will catch up on him and quite rightly will be punished by refs.
Pat, I think you're misinterpreting Kermorgants physicality for brutality. Anyway mate, i think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
A good team needs an enforcer otherwise the team is looked at as easy meat! Chopper Harris, Billy Bremner, Norman Hunter & Vinney Jones are good examples of this..... they 'looked after' other members of their team and took retribution for what they saw as unfair tactics by opposition team players. In those days people accepted it as an acceptable role for a player and they were treated like heros by their own fans.
