Wasn't really thinking about the team behind the front four but I would say that I think Adam looks a much better player when alongside a DM, and Henderson needs a bit of time to develop imo. Obviously goes without saying that Lucas slots straight into the team when fit.

  2. Maybe move Gerrard back and put Suarez in the hole with Kuyt going on the right? Basically, anything but Downing!

for me gerrard is a spent force and needs to get his legs and abilit yto run back.

ergo if suarez is the main man then we simply must make him second striker behind someone like carroll (only option today)

this would be his best position by a country mile.

I agree on henderson, he's got the ability but the knockers do him no faovurs ala lucas.

    next years team:

    reina
    johnson skertl agger enrique
    lucas gerrard(if fitter)
    RW Suarez LW
    carroll

make no bones about it all we have is kuyt and downing and bellamy right now. I would perosnally just love to see a creative three of sterling suarez and bellamy behind carroll just once.

I think you may get your wish next season, Sterling will be involved without a doubt.

I see Gerrard moving back to a more defensive midfield role, for the sake of his own career as much as anything else, 'cover every blade of grass' Players very rarely propser the wrong side of 30.

Been a great attacking Player, no disgrace in becoming a great defensive one, only wishful thinking and sentiment standing in the way

I agree and he has played deeper in recent games.

Problem is he's lost as a player when played deep. He adds very little above what Lucas/Spearing offer defensively. I feel when Lucas comes back Gerrard will feel less pressure to be a complete midfielder and can concentrate solely on attacking and not have to worry about running back to cover

I'd like to see us give something like this a go, maybe against Brighton.....

    Reina

    Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique

    Johnson Henderson Gerrard Suarez

    Carrol Bellamy

I'd like to see Sterling given a run out agains t Brighton too, he's looked brilliant recently.

In Uruguay Suarez partners Cavani up front, with Forlan right behind them two. So Suarez and Carroll/Bellamy up top with Gerrard right behind them may work.

re kuyt... that was last year in an exception circumstnace.

this year he came on when utd were tired and scored late on... did well but we must face reality... he's not what he was and we need to look further afield.

    -----------Reina-----------
    Kelly--Skrtel--Agger--Enrique
    --------Spearing--------
    Johnson---------Downing
    -------- Gerrard --------
    Suarez---------Bellamy

I think this might work pretty well <ok>

    don't think so.

for me johnson is a fine defender... once playing rb out wide. it is only when he's in the middle marking someone off crosses from our left side he has the issue.

Kelly is not that hot at RB, he's good but not half the player johnson is and in the end the guy needs to go to CB where he belongs so flanagan comes in... the sooner IMO carragher turns coach the better!

to play 4-3-3 we need to develop a mentality that allows enrique and johnson to attack without fear... .this means whom ever is playing right and left side midfield need to be very unselfish and drop in to cover the full back who is attacking. no way dowing would do that but i think kuyt could... I wanted to try this formation at seaons start but when i say the scenario i think we need a new set of players to do it.

at the start of the year i'd assumed kenny was playing 4-2-3-1 as he'd done so in preseason... it morphed into 4-4-2 and now 4-5-1...

  19. The central midfield palyer would then be free to get forward too effectively making it a 4231...?
