Even thinking it would be alright to go to Leeds could explain his sacking. Imagine how we would feel if Sean said he would happily manage Luton!

Sorry H, I had intended to warn you I would not be in The Rookery last night, but plum forgot! Had a good night and was good to see Robbo and have a laugh about Lloyd's sending off with Aidy...

My work computer always comes up with a warning message that I am about a access a pornography site everytime I log in to Not606.
Apparently, my use of the site will be monitoed and a report sent to my line manager. As he is a Wycombe Wanderers fan in a land of odd-shaped balls, I don't worry too much.

The Huddersfield sacking was an absolute disgrace, even compared to other recent controversial sackings. At least Newcastle were a mediocre Premier League team under Chris Hughton. At least Cardiff weren't getting any closer to promotion under Dave Jones.

OFH - It is the sure sign of a morally corrupt organisation that cannot recognise it's failings take the correct to protect the game that they purport to govern. Just spending a few seconds thinking about it would tell anyone that this just does not hold water - how can such a vital test of a persons/companies ability to run a football club can be compromised by a simple lie is beyond belief. It's like a judge releasing a defendant just because they pleaded not-guilty.

I am sorry to say that the time has come that football clubs are run and have to comply with the same rules, regulations and business procedures as any other business. So no "special rules" such as football debts being due paid before other creditors - this will force clubs to pay cash up front for their primary assets as they will not risk not getting paid if the debtor goes belly-up. There is no way the HMRC will let other companies not pay Income Tax, NI and VAT to the extent they do with football clubs.

w_y - Although I agree with you 100% I also think that many clubs are morally corrupt. To not pay tax over to HMRC after they have deducted it from the players and staff is totally wrong. Once that has been taken away it is not there for the clubs to use as they think fit.

I am actually hoping that this time HMRC challenge the appointment of the same administrator at Pompey and get an independent appointed. Not that I wish the fans ill, but the farce of ownership within the club, convicted gun runners, dodgy money lenders, money launderers etc.has just gone on too long and the administrator has been the constant factor in it all.

It will be painful for clubs that think that they can spend money without any consideration that one day the benefactor will for one reason or another disappear, but do they really want to be holden to people who only see football as a means of making money?

The club CP website says that tickets were on general sale from yesterday.

    http://www.cpfctickets.com/events.aspx

I guess you can order seats ,then pick up tickets matchday as at Watford.

Yes - disgusting how low some people can stoop. Thankfully his account has been withdrawn - he either closed it to avoid the flak he was receiving or his conscience got to him. Probably the former. :(

The answer isn't restriction, it's clearer punishments. If he knew he was going to go to prison for that, he wouldn't have done it. My guess is that he'll get a lesser punishment than the kid who picked up a bottle of water off the street, because this crime didn't feature the aggravating factor of undermining the government of the day.

Completely agree with your earlier comment on the fit and proper persons test. No test at all would be preferable to the false sense of security that the Football League is protecting fans from dodgy outfits.

How do you punish people for this sort of behaviour? I guess that millions of words are written everyday, so it relys on people to be sensible in what they write. Self regulation does not work very often in the business world, so why should we expect idiots to control their actions? I don't know the answer by the way. :(

There is a big difference between, for instance, describing a group of people (such as football players or the board of a company) as useless, self interested ****s, and telling an individual directly, repeatedly and in no uncertain terms that his infant son was a prick who deserved to die and that you hope he suffers grievous bodily harm that ends his career.

The gap between those is pretty black-and-white. That said, I agree that there is a grey area between those two which the powers that be shouldn't touch.
