There is to my knowledge no such thing as a massive market for football in the sub-continent, how often have we seen India, Pakistan, Bangledesh or Sri Lanka at the world cup, whilst there is some football played it is nowhere at the level of popularity that can be found elsewhere in the world. How many players in the leagues are there of Indian or Pakistani origin who have grown up in the UK? I think an Indian owner would be even more culturally adrift than MA, I really don't think Blackburn are going to ultimately benefit from owners who have already shown that they have unrealistic expectations relative to their actual resources. I personally believe that MA, like him or not, has set a sensible direction financially as well as in the aim of developing young players and bringing in younger players who can grow with the club, the imposition of how clubs do business by UEFA will have an effect and it waits to be seen whether this will be successful, it would appear that French clubs already working under such rules are actually struggling as they have seen revenues fall in real terms and are not able to compete with the other major European leagues in attracting top players, a lot of this is a direct attack by Platini on the English game which he has always derided.

I dont know how much of what I'm going to say has already been said as I only read through a few comments then decided to write my own opinion.

I might get crucified for this, but I want us to stick with Mike Ashley (as long as the money is spent positively this summer). We currently have a group of players who love playing for the team and want to give their all for the fans. I would love for us to have world class players, but I dont want to be a team like Man City paying over the value price for players who are complete dickheads (Balotelli & De Jong spring to mind) and only signed for the club for the huge paypacket.

The way the club is going at the moment is a good one imo. This summer is going to be a very important one and will give us a strong incite into how much Mike Ashley wants the club to grow. But I think all of us would rather have a club challenging for the top 4 in a way that Arsenal or Tottenham have built their team rather than Man City or Chelsea.

I had the same opinion, I want us to stick with MA. No risky business.

I didn't dare say it though so well done, i'll attempt some rep later as I'm on my phone.

I've got to say that although MA has had his head up his backside at times and doesn't seem to be best served by his sidekicks and advisers the club seems to have found some sort of stability with a playing and financial direction that bodes well for the future. I know that there are a lot of fans who will never change their opinion but if this level of sensible and calm direction continues then perhaps we can get on with the main thing of supporting our team and looking forward to some success for a club and fans who could do with some after so many years of broken promises and near misses.

    I agree (repped).

While i think that Anil Ambani is no Venkeys, and he is an alleged Toon fan, I honestly like the way our club is being run. Self sufficient, a couple of years before we have to be! That will stand us in good stead when the new regulations come in.

But, as Jose said, the summer is a biggie. If Mike sit's on the £35m then get him the **** out.

I cant see that happening. I read on an article on the Chronicle website where he says we don't need numbers (as he doesn't want to upset the team spirit) but we need more quality and competition for places. The amount of bile in the comments section took me aback to be honest! All saying Pards was just a yes man and all this. We were saying that, for maybe a couple of weeks, but we all seem to have livened up to the fact that Pards is a good, honest manager. And Mike seems to be turning it around.

Honestly, in the last 2 years, what has he done (barring the sacking of CH) that is really bad?

I agree, while I still don't like or trust Ashley, the club seems to be moving in the right direction and we seem to be getting the stability that we have all said is needed for several years.

A new owner would probably want his own manager in charge, who would in turn, probably want to bring in his own players. I personally have had enough chaos and disruption at the club, and although I never thought that I would say it, I want Ashley to continue at the club providing he allows a large chunk of the £35 million (maybe £20 million of it) to be spent in the summer and doesn't spring anymore surprises on us.

exactly <ok> we have had too much of the above throughout the years as everyone has said stability is what we need therefore Ashley remaining as the owner and Pardew as manager is the way forwad
as long as we spend in the summer and there is every indication we will do, then we cant complain really

Try looking at any Chronicle/Journal article, tell that to the idiots who post on them!

I 100% agree though. And who knows, maybe Ashley understands the business now and wont make any more mistakes...

    We live and dream.

Sorry but I would turn down success in order to maintain this team Spirit!!
For the first time in a very long time i have felt such pride in supporting our team filled with players who want to play for us. I dont want success the way chelsea and maybe man city in future have got it. It will feel much better and more pride will come with a trophy if we did it the way we are now, and i certainly do not want to become another Chelsea/Man City, I love this club and hope that this will not happen, but you never knoin football...

I personally think that MA's financial plan is excellent and something we should continue with so no to any takeover for me. However if he's willing to give up some shares, he could sell a portion to anyone serious about investing in the club and hopefully someone who will give him better advice with regards to his awful decision making and PR.
