well advertising for here was limited to poaching off old 606 and people there were so put off by the wums here and the change in layout (and improvement in functionality) that they left for JA. There are more lurkers here though than people realise, no idea why they don't sign up though
yeah, 606 had a set up where to be honest abit of work would have tidied it up... they want twitter as thier real avenue of commentry so they can mix rios inane ****e with people commmenting live on match days.... they didn't close that so i don't think the 606 forum needed to close for cost. the set up bbc had assured constant flow of new users to their site but they FAILED utterly to instill controls. Self moderation and simple no cross threading would have easily solved the whole thing. the issue here and every other site has is they don't have a link up on a bigger site like say the bbc or sky sports to bring them here to comment. until someon cracks that or gets some form of new traffic going the inevitable occurs..... the problem is being called not606 gives straight away an issue for getting someone to link us. finally... even if you got on talksport or some other radio channel as an approved partner or something that'd be good... we advertise and link to them they give us a simple link as an affiliate some some such.
I gave SW a go and it was dead. The content on here can be a bit mad at times but at least it moves along nicely. I went looking for an alternative to this site as I'm access denied at work. I've tried lots and this is the best by far, closest was Football Forums but it's run like a communist regime. I was considered a trouble maker there and the mods and admin were on my case all the time.
I still have an account with both SW and ja606 but I never go back to either of them. I joined them and here when the beeb was going down to see which was best. I wasn't on long enough at SW to have a run in with She Who Must Be Obeyed but it was like a graveyard most of the time, and ja was like an infants playground so I stuck with here. It can get a bit stupid on here when the wums get something to chew on but overall it's been pretty good- there are quite a few decent posters on here.
I just love being able to fight your corner here. old 606/ja was/is pathetic in that you can be wummed all day but tell that wum to **** off and you yourself get banned. So ridiculous
...and that won't happen whilst moderation is out of control. Nobody will want to be associated incase of liability.
It's one of the best and worst things on here imo, things do go way over the line at times but we're not kids and should be able to say what we want within reason.
Has anyone been on the mags board recently? it's like a ghost town there now they've all upped and left to go to a fan specific forum. Seems slightly odd that they'd join not606 in the first place if they were partial to fan specific forums
They all got sick of attacks from the GC and left, the problem was that they all seemed to take every thread to heart and would all argue back and things would get really nasty. This was exactly what the GC wanted, they won that little battle, this is one of the reasons I ask our guys to ignore wums, I don't want the same happening here.
I've never been on a fan site but it seems a bit odd to me. One of the best things on here is talking to fans of other clubs- apart from the obvious trolls of course. The Suarez idiotfest has got right on my tits but we've had some good match day threads with the likes of Norwich, Stoke etc. Even one or two of the mancs seem almost human at times.
gc is one reason why not 606 will get closed. it panders to the worst kind and to be honest there's enough libel posted and allowed there to give the whole site a bad name. norwich and stoke fans were absolutely fantastic on thier match day cross threads. brilliant fun
Agreed, thing is, whatever anyone does, the GC won't be removed. A few simple rules would see Not606 improve: The ability for all mods to ban for upto a week Increased number of maximum mods on each board (5 would be good) Increased number of mods on the GC (Possibly 7-8 if I'm honest, but around 4-5 should be enough) New rules on the GC regarding posts New rules on the rest of Not 606 Cross board threads can be moderated on both sides The 'report' feature needs to be 'advertised' a little more, in the sense that people are encouraged to make more use of it There's probably 100+ more ways but those are off the top of my head Let's delete those posts before everyone thinks we actually like a manc poster
GC is a disgrace to Not606. there's such vile there that one guy was arrested and prosecuted for sectarian insults.
