Was in a supermarket in 2003 in Torrevieja Spain wearing an obscure City T Shirt (just after we beat L**ds 2-0 in a pre sesaon friendly) - guy tapped me on the shoulder and spoke to me as a fellow City supporter for a quarter of an hour. My daughter asked who he was and said other than being another City fan, ' I had never met him before'. Played Darlo in the first game of the season when we won 4-1 and met him again on the East Stand concourse. Never seen him again since!
after the wembley game was on the bus on way to our car and the people behind us were fans we got talking and one of them lived down our street! then in france last year, the most remote village ever, 50 miles from a major city, there was a family with city shirts on small small world
Here in Lyon there is one other City fan apart from me so far that I know of (he's from from Kirkella & has a nicer accent than me..!) & there was this aussie guy who came to watch a game at the local when we were on the telly with his scarf.. Richard Garcia connection!
That was my favourite one. I think anywhere the forces go you'll find Tigers. I used to live on Portland and I met a tiger who worked on the helicopters there. I've met a few in bars in Oman while out there too. The furthest is an Aussie mate in Brisbane, he lived here for 5 years and was converted to the cause. We visted last year. It's always good to see pictures of him in his tigers shirt (he does the occasional few months of backpacking and proudly wears his shirt around the world)
at the kennedy space center having a great day out when i heard someone singing the" hull flag flying high" just behind us
Forgot this one: We were coming back from Bruges, the day of that major accident that killed lots of people and caused chaos in February 2010. We'd finally made it to the Eurostar (French side) and were waiting in the queue. As we went through the bloke on the desk saw my tigers scarf and started chatting about City. Seems he was a season ticket holder who was clocking up loads of miles getting back up to Hull to see the games. My wife said "Tigers everywhere", hopefully one day that will be true. (Her dad's not happy that next season she'll be in the away end when we play Brighton at the new Amex stadium.)
A couple of years ago I was on the way to Australia and there was a bloke on the flight from Heathrow who was decked out in City gear - he changed at Singapore and went on to Brisbane. A few days later I went down to the Goldcoast for a meeting and walked into the hotel bar - another supporter proudly wearing his shirt was propping up the bar. He told me that his brother in New Zealand was also a fan and that they'd both just been across to the UK to watch City at Anfield. Good thing about that trip was that, in Australia and Hong Kong, I actually saw more City shirts than Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Disneyland Hollywood Studio's In Orlando Florida Carpark! He Was From Hull and season ticket in East Stand he said ........ Then saw about 4 other Hull fans at different places during the Holiday.. but they were all American Fans
Strangest place I've seen a city fan was in Darwin, minding my own business wearing a tigers shirt when a ute pulled up onto the curb in front of me and a guy shouted UTT. Apparently they're a few up in darwin that get together on match days for a tinnie or two. Also watched a game in kuta, Bali, with a couple from Hull and was taunted by some locals shouting gordon browns a rubbish manager on the way back to the hotel. Seen tiger shirts in Fiji, Sydney and Dubai too... it's a small world.
Gordon Brown ? Didnt realise he was a football manager... The Prime Minister must have gone really far down hill
when I was undertaking repairs on the Mir spacestation in January there was this Russian astronaut sporting a black n amber shirt under his spacesuit.. no I'm lying...
True story this, I was hiking in northern california above Calistoga walking up to this natural spring on the side of this mountain. Middle of a redwood forest miles from anywhere when lo and behold this couple appeared out of nowhere and the bloke was wearing a Hull City shirt! I said to meself WTF "oi come here you" I could'nt believe my eyes. Turns out that him and his wife were teachers at Riley High School and they were on holiday, we chatted a bit and they went down the hill and I carried on going up but it was really very odd. It was very remote and they were probably about the only people I ever saw on that path all the time I walked it
Snowy - Went to a similar bar in Thailand called Tiger Bar around the same time, went with my missus (now a converted Tiger), only a few people in there so I paid for a bunch of hookers to sing City songs (one unhappy missus!!) outside, evrytime i walked by the owner would shout "Mr Tiger!!!", also showed City games while other bars showed the big teams In Prague when we where nearly extinct in the bottom divison saw lots of Russian dolls of premiership teams and thought a City one would be good, on last day saw one for sale and found out that the owner, a Chezch guy, had come to England a few years earlier and visited Hull and became an honoury fan (even slagged of Dolan!!) Most bizarre was when in Army, during a fire fight with rebels in Sierra Leonne noticed a lad returning fire wearing a City shirt!! The lad ended up running off and my mate, a fellow Tiger and a bit of hooligan in the days looked at me and said "What a disgrace to the shirt"!!!
I met a couple of City fans in Bermuda on two separate occasions - one in a bar and one by the side of a parade. I've also donated shirts to charity in Fiji and Kiribati, so there will be a couple of shirts being warn on Pacific islands. I couldn't wear my shirt in Melbourne, though, as everyone thought I was a Hawthorne fan, which was embarrassing.
I've seen a couple of tigers fans in the cafe on the first floor of the eiffel tower a few years ago.
Seems to be quite a few in Florida but mine is also Disney Hollywood Studios early June last year whilst queuing for the tower of terror.
