Oh dear, we seem to be suffering with injuries quite badly at the moment and we're a little short on bodies...

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/9420889.stm

...it's looking unlikely that Ben Arfa will make an kind of comeback this season.
I thought it was a little foolish of Pardew to throw Wayne Routledge out on loan to QPR so quickly and it didn't help stating that he didn't think WR was "...good enough to play for Newcastle United"...

    http://www.nufcblog.org/2011/01/pardew-routledge-not-good-enough-for-newcastle/

...I think he would have been a decent squad player to have around.

Anybody think Pardew was right to push Routledge out?

We should have put a 'can be recalled' clause in. Definately better at RM than Danny Simpson.

Yeah, what was all that about? Is Ryan Taylor injured as well? I thought he always did a steady job at right back and right midfield - he can take decent set-peices too...

No idea, but last time he played he got sent off and effectively cost us the game so I doubt he will be returning anytime soon.

    R. Taylor's still suspended from the Bolton game. And we should never have let Routledge go, he's not going to be a regular starter but our squad is too thin to let senior players go without replacing them.

There was a rumour, on here at least, that we were going to let Guthrie go out on loan too. Really hope Pardew isnt this foolish.

I remember reading an article about this - it was supposed to be the Nottingham Florists and their rear view mirrors...

We'd be fools to let Guthrie go as well, if the injury list is as bad as feared he will definitely start against Stoke IMO.

Cant understand why Pardew didnt look at the bigger picture.

Surelly with his experience he should have known that clubs get a lot of injuries near end of season.

Routledge not world class but he need him, with Barton still injured, but we shoot ourselves in the foot again with no recall clause.

Pardew wouldnt be daft enough to let Guthrie go out on loan... would he?! There has been a lot of speculation in the press about him going to the Florists which the club have denied.

The squad is looking pretty thin at the mo so we need to keep a hold of our players. I think Guthrie can do a job for us in the short term till Barton is back.

I thought it was very foolish to left Routledge go wish Wayne all the best but if the manager doesnt think he can do a job for us then I back him fully.
However Guthrie can still do it for us centre mid and is good back up, just dont play the poor ****er on the wings!!

Looks as if Joey and Jonas could be back for Stoke. That would make me a lot more confident.

That'll give us a big boost. I think in particular Signor Barton is key if we're to get all 3pts at Stoke <ok>

He's certainly been pulling the strings for us so far this season.

He changes the whole way that we set about, I would really fancy our chances with Barton playing

Letting Routledge go on loan was daft as we've seen that he's a better option than Guthrie and Ryan Taylor. We've been left heavily reliant on Barton who is now injured and have no suitable alternative to put in his place.

Guthrie can't play on the right wing and Raylor isn't the type of player to burst down the wings as the best feature of his game is kicking a dead ball.

It's quite a reversal in fortune for Joey Barton - i'm delighted that he has got his form back and is now essential to Newcastle United going forward. It really wasn't that long ago that there was a clamour to have him thrown out of the club!

Well done Joey Barton I say...<ok>

As mentioned though, we are pretty reliant on him these days having been left short of numbers by Pardews strange decision with WR.
I almost feel that it was a ploy by Pardew to assert his authority as the new manager coming in - a sort of show of strength...or perhaps i'm just trying too hard!
