Spot on. an ambitious man like PL could have his head turned by the chance of taking on a struggling "glamour" club like Villa, Everton etc where he would get a big salary hike plus a number of excellent players in situ and the opportunity to build a similar legacy to that which he is working on currently at FCR. Realistically we have to accept that there is a limit to what he can achieve with us and that a move to a bigger club would give him the opportunity to test his mettle in Europe, much as I would love to have the return of European nights to Norwich, preferably in front of 35,000 of us. I am not currently unduly worried but I can see McLiesh getting the bullet and PL being offered the job. I suppose at least whilst we are doing well it rules out the likes of Wolves/QPR/Blackburn/Bolton/Wigan as any move in amongst the dead men could cost PL his premier league kudos which would, I think come hard to him plus it must be fantastic for him to be in a position to enjoy the success and reap the rewards of the tremendous job he and the rest of the backroom staff have done so far.
i think, perhaps unsurprisingly, ipswich fans are still living in the past! football has moved on immeasurably since even 1994 when walker left for goodison park. he left to take over a bigger club on its knees in the vein hope he could transform it and take it back to glory. nothing wrong with that and had he done a better job he may well have been able to do so. if lambert took over everton tomorrow he would have absolutely no chance of getting them any higher in the league than about 7th, amazingly the same position where we ourselves are currently aiming for. unless they get taken over they cannot compete. neither can we, at least, not at the very top. but why would he leave for everton when he would have to begin from scratch? he is in a similar position with us, yet this is his club - he has and still is building it. why would he jack it all in to start again when he has plenty of time to move in the future? honestly - it would make literally no sense at all and that is why you can possibly rule villa out too as they are basically in the same position as everton. bigger clubs than norwich? yes, undoubtedly. are they any better than norwich at the moment? no, no they're not. do they have long term potential? yes. do they have short term potential? no. so why move? he won't. he is not viewed as the god he undoubtedly is anywhere else. we know how good he is and how good he will be but as i keep saying it will be a massive risk to sign a manager for a big club based on a couple of years of success in the lower leagues and an excellent half a season in the premier league! the only clubs who would come in for him at this time are the likes of villa and everton but as i say, it would be a peculiar move at this time. football has moved on. time some ipswich fans caught up with it
Dont encourage him for gawd sake! He's already got splinters from standing on his soap box for too long!
i really do not think he is motivated by money. he does not come across as that kind of man at all, despite what some colchester fans may say. he is driven by ambition, nothing more. i keep saying - none of us are stupid! he will leave us eventually, but it is blatantly not the right time - any fool can see that! so sorry to disappoint all you ipswich fans...
He's got form for doing well at a small club in the division to attract the slightly bigger clubs.........................................
warky, as i keep saying, ipswich fans are fearful that he will stay with us. you worry what he will do for us. thats understandable i suppose. you've got the fear... big time...
Your self justification seems to me that you are more frightened than us! If I were you I would hope and pray that Dalglish stays on at Liverpool!
you can check out any of my articles warky. i have absolutely no fear whatsoever of losing lambert anytime soon, especially not to liverpool
You obviously didn't read my predictions for the score against West Ham and what would be the outcome of the game against Boro!
