Some, like the PFA, are calling for the FA to act as an 'honest broker' in the Suarez case, but having proved with their corrupt and bent Star Chamber into the Evra allegations that they are far from being either independent or honest, would it not be more appropriate to ask for a body with a fairer reputation such as FIFA to intervene? Starting with an inquiry into the actual inquiry of the case to undercover such self-evident malpractice as the appointment of cronies onto the panel by the prosecution (FA); the leading of the prosecution chief witness in reviewing the evidence and the defence statements (and then changing them accordingly and coaching the witness in such); the concelament of the previous from the defence until it was too late to properly review them; the ready belief that a purposeful, direct slur SPECIFICALLY TRANSLATED INTO SPANISH was an 'excaimation', whilst the colloquial, without intent use of the term 'negro' in response was a calculated slur: the suspension of a pressumption of innocence despite the fact that one party was accused and the other not (unlike property or matriomonial disputes where the use of balance and probabilities is a valid procedure): and the final sanction based upon the number of times the alleged UNPROVEN slur was said (and what it even was) that was never actually claimed by the prosecution witness at any time until he had the exclusive privilege to review the evidence.

Fenway, did you not learn from NOT appealing against the sanction that the press and FA are a voracious monster that just feeds on weakness. It is true that a vindictive FA would have just doubled the ban and probably docked Liverpool points (and possibly taken up Martin Samuel's suggestion and forced Liverpool players to wear KKK hoods too) but it would have opened the way to go to a PROPER court against them. This way, and the apologies, have just fed the beast more and the press are already calling for even more sanctions, as personified by a columnist in the Times (NI, remember!) admitting that he turns on the telly with a visceral hatred of Liverpool and hoping they get beat. You can't negotiate with terrorists, the FA or the English press! You'd be better off using the money you saved from getting Liverpool at a knockdown price and NOT investing it in a new stadium (let alone the £50m sale of Torres and then others) to bribe FIFA and the world press, just as United bought the FA and the English press.

A shame, because this is potentially a very good piece of work here gets lost in the visceral vitriol directed against the Press and Manchester United.

United have ****all to do with this, beyond having far too good a knowledge of the system, and how to manipulate it.

The press will turn whichever way will sell the most rags, be it broadsheet or titty rag.

But the FA's position in this entire affair has been indefensible from day 1.

They pick the 'independent' panel and frame the terms of reference (for example, witnesses cannot self-incriminate, only the defendant), they have a confrontational process (Defendant, panel, witnesses), and not an investigative process, and they are looking to find evidence to prove a charge. They have a 99.5% success rate, which is unbelievable,
and no system to appeal against sentencing.

Here I'm upset at about how the process worked out but FIFA? You think they will be seen as fair and impartial in this?

Let's say they do & they find that the FA ballsed it all up and Suarez is only guilty of a literal breach of the rule based on direct translation but it should be put down to cultural differences. What do you think the response from the FA and British media would be? This:

"Corrupt FIFA under blatter getting back at FA. Disgrace": whole row and debate start up again with more bitterness and Suarez won't magically get back the 8 games or his reputation outside of LFC fans & South America where on the first issue he arguably didn't lose it in the first place.the rest will still call him a racist. And remember Liverpool play under the FA not FIFA, you think screwing them over would get you future fair treatment?

The Time for any grand stand is gone.

We support the team from here, not saying forget but move on as until time travel is invented it is a waste of energy fighting something that can not be changed. Unlike other events there is no "discoverable truth" that can be unveiled here. The entire event has been about opinions & points of view and I don't care what you do you aren't going to change Evras, Uniteds, their and many other teams fans or the FA and Media. It doesn't for varying reasons serve their interests to change their mind.

Better to put this energy in supporting the team when they play.

By all means, keeping calling out the feckers when they come on here to stir but we'll not change anything.

We all know the inquiry was flawed. The FA was prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner and their "independent" panel simply ignored any defence. Any reasonable person can see that this is not justice, but there is little to be done about it now.
For reasons stated above, it would be madness to get FIFA and Blather involved.
We are going to be vilified whatever we do for quite a while yet, we need to defend ourselves with reason and dignity and not descend to the level of many of the detractors.
It's pointless to drag Fergie into this, he cleverly manipulates the media, no more. He isn't responsible for what happened, but no doubt he's loving it so why give him, or any of them, further ammunition?

Gordon Taylor(the PFA's own Sepp Blatter)showed his lack of caring in a case he should have been shown to be using an even handed approach as his organisation represents all players in England irrespective of their race, colour or religion.

Gus should be applauded for his views on the subject its a shame he was attacked by the press because he said Luis Suarez whom he knows personally was not a racist and pointed out the cultural aspect of the case.

I think its time for the real government to take steps to reform the FA in terms of having a fit-for-purpose system for discipline. Clearly the FA is incapable of managing itself or its own affairs in an open or even-handed manner. It simply serves its own ends. That is not right. It should be serving the game.

I wonder if we can open one of those online petition thingies to get a debate in Parliament???

Problem is, everyone thinks the FA did a good job with not rushing the decision, publishing the report, the punishment. It's a joke,

As MITO says, we should just move on. It's hard to swallow but we haven't got a choice. This is just a battle we won't/can't win.

  14. Very good point from Gus Poyet but shouldn't it be the clubs that are responsible for providing this training? They are the ones that are responsible for all the different nationalities arriving in this country. Got to say I am gobsmacked if some sort of training is not already provided too.

The problem is the fascist PC brigade and media have got us all ends up on this.

Try to appeal- we are defending racism
Accept it - we know suarez is guilty.

Racism is the new *****philia- once accused there is no defence.

    Terrefict...the fascist PC brigrade???
Mmmmmmmmmm.....and you complain about Suarez being accused of racism when you accuse others of being fascists for having a different view?

    Heres an idea....

    Evra accuses suarez....suarez says....

I am not a racist...I do not believe what I said was racist as in my culture what I said is not a problem. However after talking to Kenny and the club I can see what I said could be misinterpreted and I have no problem in apologising for any offence caused. As a player of LFC I want to point out that I would never demean the anti racist work done by LFC, particularly past legends like John Barnes.

I suspect this would have brought about a swift end to the issue instead of blaming everyone else from Evra, Ferguson, the FA, Sky interviewers, other fans, the fascist pc brigrade etc.

Just a thought....I.m sure you'll come up with some pithy insult but the truth is if you unintentiinally offend someone you should apologise for the misunderstanding....normally thats then the end of the matter.

Boring: nothing you haven't said before & even if you are 100% right (well done, clap on back n all that) it didn't happen, it can't be changed and repeating it ad naseum will make no difference. The only thing you're doing is showing your distaste in general for Liverpool fans who share a different view so, you've done that too!

    So let's just summarize;

You think everyone on this side from Owner down to fans pet dog got it wrong, is an idiot, is disgusting. About right? So nothing left to say to us so for your own well being of mind go back to all the sane respectable united fans & talk about nice respectable things. Unless you're some kind of missionary but I warn you your success rate isn't likely to get any better mate.

Anything else we can help you with?

Yep the fascist PC brigade, you know the ones that try to control what others say and think and will destroy anyone that stands alongside or defends you. It's called PC now but orwell called it newspeak.

As for you view on what should of happened, it sounds great but criticising with hindsight is easy, I note that you do not criticise the way evra publicised the issue and then refused mediation when offered by the FA.

Terrifict...LFC are a multinational company that employ god knows any number of PR people...they are paid a fortune and shouldn't need hindsight.
I talk to the 5 and 6 years (in my job as a teaching assistant) in school about these things to show them how to resolve issues....(and before any smartarse decides to criticise a TA's spelling and Grammar I type my contributions on my phone without a spell checker and with VERY fat fingers)

As for PC ...seems a lazy term normally thrown at anti racists or those who oppose other forms of discrimination. Never hear those who support the royal family called PC for pushing their viewd.

Facist? You oppose the term racist being put on Suarez but throw around a term like fascist....seems a bit of a cintridiction.

As for Evra .... why do I have to either justify or explain his actionss?
Maybe if things had gone the way I suggested he would have been prepated to meet ... Or maybe not....but due to LFCs poor handling of it we will never know.
