Cheers lads! I've got everything PMK has listed and mine currently stands at 1 and a half pages. I'll have a look for the Institute of Personnel and development website and see if i've missed anything out.
Anymore than 2 pages and it's going in the bin before they even read it mate. Be concise, and depending on whether it's for academia or for work order the CV to suit. For example if it's for work list previous work experience first and if it's for Uni etc. list your academic qualifications first. Keep it short and sweet with a nice simple layout. And make sure you fill it with bullshit that sounds good. Basically, no bullshit = no job I have these sub-titles on mine (obviously after your name address and contact details): Employment history Education and qualifications Additional Skills Achievements and Interests Referees (always giving two - usually 1 academic and 1 professional - however, this changes the older you get as now mine are both professional, also this depends what your CV is for) Remember to always tweak your CV every time you use it as different jobs or academic institutions require different bullshit. Good luck young Chris
Good advice Chris I'd also add that you really need to spell it out on your CV, would be employers really cba to digest all you have to say and read into your CV so spell it out. So what about your past jobs? Stating isn't enough, spell out the skills you gained.. I used INITIATIVE to do this, showed clear LEADERSHIP by doing this. Sounds obvious, but I've seen CVs in the past that would send me to sleep
chris, its a hard question. you're a yuong man so you should keep it as short as the guys suggest. Put you name at the top with address, phone and email. make them obvious and easy to read. Ie bigger than rest of text Sky has the right sub titles, for you i am guessing experience and acheivements may not be that long so emphasise what you can thats positive, it really depsends what you've done but they should be somethign you want to be asked about in an interview. red is quite right about the skills gains and the two words he's put in caps are dead right. You want to pull out things like "I got an award for" (my cv says i have a patent) "projects delivered or lead" "cost avings made" "teams led" stuff like that. employers want to know, 1. you know what to do. 2. you will get things done reliably. 3. you will deliver results... I did an nterview for a guy recently and he had 2 pages for 20 years of engineering. thats the american way... (he was hired in america to work with me on a project so i'd not have to spend weeks on end living ther eot complete said project) 2 good pages can get you the interview, its up to you to deliver the impression in said interview.
Also Chris if you have to add a cover letter - FFS make the first line/paragraph engaging or I'm afraid it'll end up in the shredder.
Also don't do a 'Tash' and say something inappropriate such as "I will put my own blood and sweat in to working on the hospital ward".
Piara Powar(director of football against racism in Europe)is pontificating about LFC as a whole as some sort of racist institution. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/7519454/Powar-Questions-for-Reds The same twat got caught with his kecks down making a racist comment on twitter calling a dark skinned man a coconut. http://www.anfieldroad.com/wp-content/uploads/piara-powar-coconut.png two faced hypocritical twat.
To be clear, he's just Skylarker again and I'm sure he'll respond to the movie/tv thread thing we have. On Ep3 S5 myself.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/7520513/Hazard-Spurs-deal-not-done-yet ??! Is this all it takes to sign a top class player? A stint in the CL groups at a club with 0 history which hasn't finished 3rd or higher in the last 20 years. Seems players will join any club to get a whiff of cl . we're pretty ****ed aren't we re signing top talent
Sky left? Or he taking a break because of all the **** going on? We could always find his Reggae forum and WUM the **** out of it so he would come back. "Justin Beaver pisses all over Bob Marley!!"
Anyone else realise that the remaining fixtures we have till the end of the season are against our closest rivals for 4th (Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle) and everyone else that is below us. Big games, hope we finally get our run! Didn't want to make a new thread or mention it on another thread with wums all over it.
For any mods reading may I propose a new thread "Suarezgate" in which ALL Suarez threads related or even mildly related to the incident are merged into. Then we can have one nice neat thread hidden away from the rest of the forum. I thought this had died down but threads keep popping up and all it does is raise tensions, it doesn't change the past or anyone's opinion so I fail to see their point.
