    Read my previous posts on here. Not once am I defending anything or anyone. this thread is about the narrow issue of a manager believing he has the right to take a moral stand against another club when he hasn't done it himself. Some united fans have accepted this narrow point.

    You do get the Irony of using a "you're one to talk" in a you're one to talk thread as a defense don't you?

    Actually I don't think you do. Stick to basic insults like "bin dippers" you'll not feel out of depth there.

    Removal of "moron" as it was unnecessary.

    Why are you being such a tedious semantic twat? Concentrating on Giggs and Rooney's private lives, while ignoring Cantona, Ferdinand and Keane. you should have been O.J. Simpson's lawyer with such bullshitting skills!

    To be fair, Frank, Ivor doesn't generally lower himself to 'bindipper' - apparently because BiasedOpinion considers himself king of that epithet. If Ivor strays onto that word, it'll be 10 straight hours of teabagging from Biased...

    Fergie said he would't sell Real Madrid a virus because of their underhandedness in trying to lure CR away from OT after the old hypocrite had an illegal meeting with contracted player Japp Stam in an Amsterdam restaurant along wih the Utd secretary behind his clubs back to entice him to sign for United.

    By the way the virus found its way to Real in the end.

    But Cantona, Ferdinand or Keane, did not lie to Ferguson/Gill/Edwards/Glazers and knowingly act against the wishes and interests of the club. They did something wrong. They were punished. It was not condoned by Ferguson or United.

    None of these points prove 'hypocrisy' for Fergie speakng against Suarez and his actions.

    Let's avoid insults :emoticon-0106-cryin

    These are much better examples at making a point. Who knows what Madrid where doing behind the scenes apart from dining out with Ronaldo. But yes, this is hypocritical behaviour. He drove the price up for Ronaldo, but can be said to be guilty of the same type of dealings with Stam that Madrid were engaged in with Ronaldo.

    However, it still doesn't relate to how his opinion on Suarez was hypocritical <ok>

    Surely Cantona's only mistake was taking the "Kick Racism Into Touch" a bit too literally!!

    I think this should be proof enough of the hypocrisy of SAF - The guy failed blatantly to take the drug test and still had the 'Full support' of his manager. If that had been a Liverpool player (Cue quote) "The mans a disgrace to the club and should never play football for Liverpool again!"

    You are most welcome!

    Perhaps not, but clearly Giggs and Rooney DID go against the interests of the club in conducting themselves in the manner they did. You can't seriously say that conducting a 5 year affair with his brother's wife didn't damage the club's family image, or that Alex was happy with Rooney purchasing a couple of hookers and entertaining them in his wife's bed?

    Rather than agree this was wrong, Alex simply banned the journalist from asking questions about either event, and tried to get one banned when he tried to obliquely ask about Giggs.

    Dodging the issue doesn't gain you the moral high ground. That is failing to publicly condemn. Thus the basis for the interpretation that he's in no position to take the moral high ground, when he's publicly failed to do so when his own house needed putting in order.

    Again with the bullshit, Suarez DID NOT LIE either. he had his hand out to shake hands, but that obnoxious twat of a prick dwarf, never took it and then made a big thing out of it when Suarez moved past it.

    You must need to get bathed every half our to remove the stench of defending that poisonous little cretin WHO DID LIE...REPEATEDLY!!!!!!

    Be fair, neither of them really tried to shake hands. Evra simply took advantage of the situation to scream "Victim!!" again. Suarez should have had the foresight (someone should have spelled it out to him, at least) to know how that would play out in PR terms.

    Evra is poison, Suarez is stupid.

    A few factual points:

    1) Fergie never said that about Cantona; the club accepted the initial punishment handed down from the FA and fined him 2 weeks wages. Fergie didn't wear a t-shirt.

    2) Keane's tackle didn't end Haaland's career. Even Haaland himself admitted that. Fergie didn't wear a t-shirt.

    3) Ferdinand was fined, the club appealed based on Negouai's precedent, the appeal was knocked back, Fergie said no more. We didn't wear t-shirts about it or call the drug testers liars. Ferdinand didn't fail a drug test.

    4) Rooney was unmarried at the time. Fergie offered no public opinion on the matter. No t-shirts were worn

    5) There is no evidence to suggest Fergie knew about the affair.

    All these cases are insignificant compared with racial abuse, a charge Suarez was found guilty of and of which he still hasn't apologised to Patrice Evra. But then LFC have always been short on the facts, even pre-dating Benitez.

    So why didn't Suarez just stop and shake his hand? And why did he apologise and say;

    "I should have shaken Patrice Evra's hand before the game and I want to apologise for my actions.

    And why did Ian Ayre say;

    "The player had told us beforehand that he would, but then chose not to do so.

    "He was wrong to mislead us and wrong not to offer his hand to Patrice Evra.

    "He has not only let himself down, but also Kenny Dalglish, his team-mates and the club. It has been made absolutely clear to Luis Suarez that his behaviour was not acceptable.

    Agree with your point above about Giggs and Rooney acting against the family image of the club. However, it is not a club issue. It is a players private life. And while he might advise them, and perhaps even give them a bollocking in private, it is not his place to air a public opinion, refute or support claims and in doing so - make it the business of the club.

    It is not the place of a journalist to ask him about it either and no doubt, he would have stated that at the start of a press conference before the question was asked.
