Heard a whisper that if rangers go completely tits up i.e administration turns to liquidation (very likely if the tax decision goes against the buns) that for a new phoenix club to be re-introduced to the SPL, Celtic and the other well run SPL clubs ( i dont think hearts are in favour) have asked for the above punishment to be applied to Rangers to grant them a licence to immediately re-join the SPL. The alternative would be to either join division 3 or try and convince the SPL to allow Rangers back in. This is not just a piss take by Celtic - although a bit of it is i bet - but is aimed as a deterant to other clubs in trouble simply shutting the doors, not paying debts and re-starting the next season with a nil balance sheet, no debt. Potentially if Rangers are simply re-admitted then other clubs could in theory think to blow £20m in one season to have a go at the title/a european and if it all goes wrong write it all off, and start from scratch. What would your thoughts be on this? I think there has to be some punishment over an above 10 points, not sure if the above is right though
I think if a Pheonix club was to be setup then the SPL board and SFA would decide what points penalty would be applied. I would imagine Celtic would want a big enough penalty to ensure they win the league, and the other teams would want a big enough penalty to allow them to realistically challenge Rangers for 2nd place. I'm not sure how it would work with UEFA, we would maybe need to wait 3 years to be given a licence to play European football. At the same time though, Rangers have not entered administration, so there is still plenty of time for the situation to change.
Much as it would amuse me to have Nouveau Rangers 2012 FC in Division 3, it'll come down to finances. If most SPL clubs think they're better off with Rangers (either in current or NewCo form) in the SPL then that's gonna happen whether we like it or not.
They should be liquidated, expunged , erased and an remaining recalcitrants sent for retraining and attitude adjustment please log in to view this image
why should Rangers be treated differently to any other club? **** em I say and the vast majority of non Rangers fans would agree.
As much as ER is a liar and a coward, he is right here. Why should any new football club just leapfrog three divisions of football? How can a brand spanking new football team get saddled with a points penalty just because another football team can't manage their finances?
That's my understanding. A club has to be registered with UEFA for 3 years before it can take part in any European competition.
As funny as it would be I think the the novelty would wear off as we win the SPL by 35 points every season until they get their act together again.
Why the sorrow for Rangers , just think this had happened the other way round , would any ger be feeling sorry for us or worried about Scottish football ??? Answer no , lets enjoy the this whole episode
Blog from the Scotsman reaching much the same conclusions as Anport suggested http://www.scotsman.com/sport/footb..._end_of_the_wedge_for_club_on_brink_1_2115224
It isn't a big deal, just proof that you are a liar. That is all. I'll do it if you promise you wont be there? For sporting integrity, any new football club must have to climb the ladder the same as anyone else. That isn't a crazy thing to ask for.
