A word of warning from a poet:

"Ask not for whom the bell tolls.

    It tolls for thee."

Meaning ... oh Christ, you know what it means don't you?

They weren't aware of potential future tax obligations? Not very good at planning then. Or possibly they are keeping a team together which is too expensive for the position of the club? People are saying that their players are much better than those teams around them - well, for a club in their financial position they shouldn't be!
There seems to be an attitude that league status is more important than financial probity-that stinks! (I could understand it more when they had Premier League status, and money, to lose). They have probably considered the fact that by keeping their best players(unpaid)and taking the points hit, they can still avoid relegation..... and bu***r the taxman!
I remember the glee shown when a Pompey team which was not paid for beat a Saints team which was, and noone on the Pompey boards cared- well they care now!
I honestly hope that they survive as a club, for the sake of the real fans(some of whom are my very old friends). However, they are pushing the bounds of sympathy to the limits.

I am sorry PL but your club have been living beyond there means since the last admin. those expensive transfers should never of happened.
Sensible cheap lower league players should have been signed. The whole saga has been totally un expectable and I can see why lots of other fans believe its time to fold your club up and show this behaviour cannot go on.

Football fans should unite. Football is run by business men. Bad and good. Fans have no say if they get good guys or bad guys(remember Lowe). Levelling criticism at Pompey is just levelling criticism at corrupt individuals not the fans that go and see their team each week. Put the bullshit that is 'I hate Pompey' to one side. Revelling in their sour times is as embarrassing as watching their cavemen few hurling abuse at our players at fratton in december.

What this government fails to realise is that you'll get more tax revenue in the long run than if people are unemployed.

No, they weren't aware that CSI would go into administration.

Yeah, really suffered badly. Nothing but bad times.

    DO ME A FAVOUR!!!

The club cheated. The fans didn't care whilst they were winning. What goes around, comes around.

No. They'll get a business in the long run that racks up far more debt than taxes it pays. That debt will not only affect it, but the smaller creditors that it hasn't been paying.

PFC is an open wound that never stops bleeding.

I'm not just talking about Portsmouth but as a whole. Anyhow, if we lose most of our players but still exist as a club and start being run in a financially prudent manner, then the admin staff will still be employed and still be paying tax. If they liquidate us over 1.9 million or whatever, they'll lose their jobs and HMRC will lose a lot of tax revenue.

When those photos were taken CBK, what you claim would have been impossible for us to know. You have got that a bit mixed up I think.

The club cheated, yes, but at that time we and you, had no idea what was going on behind the scenes. You are trying to make it sound like we all knew the club was in difficulty before we even won the cup and didn't care about it and that is simply not true.

    Poor effort.

HMRC's job is not only to get the taxes it is due, but also to ensure insolvent companies are stopped from trading. If PFC pay the £2m they owe, they will only fail to pay the next installment and then the next and then the next....

When an animal is slowly and dying and clearly in pain, the only humane thing to do is put it out of its misery.

True! BUT, and it's a big BUT, they want your scalp. Pompey took the p*** out of the Revenue last time, and undermined them. They need a good example to all of us to pay up or else, when it comes to taxes (especially after 'arry pulled a flanker). The sight of a well known football club being emasculated over unpaid tax will give pause to those who might think of doing the same- THAT might be worth FAR more than £1.9m.

Impossible to know? Impossible to even think that a club with 20,000 crowds and next to no commercial income could be paying Sol Campbell & Defoe and many others £50k-80k a week?!? From a "rich" owner that had NO companies and no clear legal source of income apart from his highly dubious father (who has an arrest warrant for gun running). That a club that couldn't even get funding to rebuild its own stadium from land cheaply acquired ?

You were ALWAYS in difficulty. Ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law.

"Suffering" is what happened to Luton fans. Suffering is what happened to Salisbury fans. Clubs that got a massive kick in the bollocks by football authorities when they were down and got no help from gladhanding Tory MP's asking the PM for "special favours".

And yes, suffering is dropping down to League 1, having to put out a team of kids because you sold all your best players to pay what debts they could.

Well there was nothing being spoken about it in the press or anywhere else at that particular moment, as far as I can remember. I certainly didn't know how much players were earning at that time. I still think you've done a bit of a George Orwell job here.

All of what you are now talking about, CBK came to light, in the press, long after the Fa cup final, that I do know. So at best, you are only partly right.
