With the highly likely chance that the huns go into administration within the next 5 days, is now the chance for reform? As I understand it the current setup of the SPL means that 11 of 12 teams must vote in favour of a motion for it to be implemented. Anything the old firm don't like gets punted into touch. As Rangers will prob be in administration I think the voting requirement drops to 10 from 11. Is this an opportunity for change in the SPL and if so what sort of changes can the non-old firm teams implement to try and save this league?
Not really that familier with the SPL to be honest, my Irish ex used to support Celtic, so i started following Rangers just to give it a bit of family rivalry, used to piss her right off too. Obviously should the worst happen, it's going to practically be a one horse race, so something drastic has to be done. I've never understood why there wasn't a kitty that every club put into, just to prevent this type of event.
Logically the Irish team Celtic should be allowed to return to native Ireland and Scotland can rid itself of sectarianism in one fell swoop.
It is, and there's no excuse for it, there's so many clubs in financial trouble in these chaotic times, yet clubs are allowed to freely spend on the overinflated wages and transfer fee's that both players and clubs demand. What the worlds FA's and equivilent need to do is enforce a worldwide transfer and wage fee cap, beacause the only reason that our home nation's FA's won't introduce these measure, are because they know that all the best players will bugger off abroad, where the grass is greener. And we all know that Mad Murdoch is running the show anyway, with his TV ransoms, god forbid he doesn't make a profit out of it.
I think you will find it was not Rangers or Celtic who were opposed to changing the SPL set up, that was the diddy teams, refusing to alter the structure through their own self interest.
