He could do well there, sure, but would the liverpool fans accept him? I suspect they would wear T-Shirts and piss and moan If Lambert got in because they feel they deserve Mourinho because they're a "Massive Club" Hodgson never got their respect because he wasn't as famous as they'd have liked and he wasn't an ex-player
agree beefy. liverpool are a strange club. despite not winning the league since 1990, their fans still believe it is their right to win it. lambert, naturally, would be attracted to a job as big as that one but could you honestly see liverpool coming in for him? he would not be accepted by the majority of their fans, he has no connection to the club etc. we are actually in a pretty lucky situation. there are not really that many clubs who are of the correct stature to realistically be a threat to us. the really big clubs will want a big name - including spurs, the clubs just above us in terms of size such as villa and everton are both financially unstable and apart from a sideways move, there isn't a lot else as he'd never take the celtic job (in his words). he is still building a team at norwich - a young team full of future internationals - and he is probably the safest manager in the country. he can get on with the job in hand - no worries about being sacked if there is a poor run, no worries about fans turning on him, no pressure to get instant results. indeed, had we been relegated this season i very much doubt there would be many wanting him out. he might not get that scenario at another club. if its a massive club, then the move would be correct - you don't turn man utd, spurs, liverpool down. given a couple more years of building, and if all goes to plan, we should have our capacity at 35,000, be financially stable (without the need for premier league cash) and be a comfortable, mid table premier league club who can realistically challenge for honours and europe - that was always the plan and so far, we are 5 years ahead of where we should be! we might not be a massive club but we can realistically challenge the likes of everton, newcastle and villa etc. if we do that over the next three or four years, then the big clubs may come calling. its no guarantee though - how long has moyes been a contender for big jobs and not got any of them?
Talk about clutching at straws! When Dalglish gets kicked upstairs it would not surprise me in the slightest if they came in for Lambert. He absolutely fits their profile in being a young hungry manager who has proved his winning credentials at a smaller club with lesser finances. Look back to the days of Shankley, Paisley, ***an and then Dalglish the first time. Liverpool have in the main always given untried managers a chance and Lambert's Glaswegian upbringing will certainly appeal to the Liverpool fans. I can see him taking the Liverpool job as and when it arises.
so warky, you really believe that liverpool football club will appoint a manager who has six months experience in the premier league? it is you sir, who is clutching at straws! lambert isn't going anywhere for a while yet
I find it amusing that the hatred of Holt from the binners causes them to deny his talents but their hatred of lambert causes them to accentuate his talents, in the hope he'll move on. I'm no psychologist, but that sounds like a fear based viewpoint to me.
So just where in the article did I actually give a date for this to happen! I think you are guilty of what Beefy has accused us of in a previous thread You carry on burying your heads in the sand! PS As far as I know, we have never denied Lambert's fantastic talents he is simply too good for you!
We did....by getting promoted. The idea was then that you would have at least 6 extra points this season
Thats what I said, you slag off Grant Holt because you are all afraid of him. You talk up Paul Lambert because your afraid of him too. Lambert is a great manager, and there are certainly larger clubs in the world than norwich, but with some simple reasoning you don't have to go to sleep at night as a canary terrified he'll have left you for the girl next door, or Wolves as it is in this case.
hardly burying our heads in the sand! we all know he will move on to bigger things eventually, but this notion mused by ipswich fans that he'll be off at the first whiff of another job is ridiculous. first of all, a big club has to actually want lambert!! appointing him would be seen as a massive risk for any big club as he is not experienced - maybe in three years time it'll happen or maybe, as was the case with o'neill at leicester it'll be five or six years. i think you are underestimating what lambert believes he can achieve at norwich. i suppose thats inevitable - we all know that you are scared he will stay with us for a while. i'd feel the same if he was your manager - i'd probably try scaremongering too it the vein hope that i might be proved right.
We slag off Grant Holt because he is a cheat plain and simple! At last we had a referee who was prepared to penalise his fouling on Saturday
please log in to view this image and btw, when was he penalised for diving the other day? The penalty was for a pretty weak shirt pull.
Nice to see that you have finally admitted that he is Supers! Well done mate, it wasn't that difficult was it!
hmm.... i was actually talking about you and your club! i wonder if there has ever been a club so afraid of the impact of just one man.
