It's all about ratio of people - train carries around 1300 people. Coach around 45. Also the train tends to take the most direct route and doesn't brake nearly enough as a coach, so the energy it expends is used more efficiently. The mode of transport I use would have tree huggers like you Kyle reaching for their veggie bangers to beat me up with
