-10 is the minimum points deduction. There may be more depending on the degree of financial irregularities.

I'll reitereate what I've said a few times - I genuinely feel sorry for the true supporters.

But that's the extent of my kindness. This had to happen. After everything, they're lucky to still be where they are. I'm not sure how many points they'll lose, but even 10 puts them out of the relegation zone only on goal difference.

It's going to be a tough old season, and if they stay up fair play to them, they'll have an ounce of my respect!

If they only get -10, Pompey will probably stay up as they are getting some good results and they have a decent manager.

most Pompey fans must be wondering whether the club CAN survive as a going concern. It owes nearly £2 million in tax, it must owe £3-£4 million in wages, with Feb due in 2 weeks, and it still owes £20 million from the CVA from the previous administration. How the heck the club can be self sufficient within a sensible period of time given the scale of losses and back debt to repay?? On top of that the club has precious little assets, not owning the land, not having their own training facilities. The only assets appear to be their playing staff, and if they have to get money in quickly that will be a fire sale. This is looking ominous.

Appaently a new owner would have to pay off £50m debts. The supporters Trust were asked to proove they could access £100m if they get involved! There's also the problem that the Administrator may have to make a player or two redundant to kep them going in the meantime. I think it's a rocky road ahead but they will survive - eventually.

I agree, he's probably their best asset. Wouldn't mind betting he's already faxed his CV off to Wolves.

if they only get docked 1o points it'll be criminal
the cherries / luton and i thin leeds (not sure tho) have all been docked more then 10, it would be intresting if they complained to the FA on the matter tho.

luton town - The club then had a total of 30 points docked from its 2008–09 record by The Football Association and The Football League for various financial irregularities

watch out pompey

Now that was a club who really went through the mire, down and down they went. Perhaps the JPT can bring Pompey the same joy it brought Luton and us.

Pompey will only get -10 for now because its their first administration whilst in the Football League. Previous administration was under Premier League rules.

But I'd be interested to see what happens if they don't conform with the CVA from the previous admin as I think HMRC are within their right to seek immediate liquidation if Pompey fail to meet those installments (can't see them doing so, can you?)

I think the Football League can only hit them with more points if they are still in admin at the start of next season? Or some out of Admin without an official CVA agreement?

But morally, Pompey should be hit with same or more than Bournemouth or Luton as their debts are much larger and the smell of corruption has never left Fratton.

Still amazed that Hampshire Police havn't looked into the accounts for evidence of fraud & money laundering etc.

The only true Pompey supporters I know of were the ones giving foul abuse and hate filled hand signals everytime our boys took a throw in or a corner at FP recently. I'm pleased to say that I don't know any personally, so I don't feel the need to offer any sympathy because it would only be hypocritical.

You're not the only one.

They may have to go to the British Virgin Isles to get at some of the truth - nice few days/weeks/months for someone, would think they'd jump at the chance. Oh on second thoughts, accounts probably not available for scrutiny.

Was listening to all this on Radio 5 today, and the thought suddenly struck me that it's a wonder significantly more clubs haven't gone out of business or folded up over the 120-30-40 years of professional existence. There have only been a smallish percentage, probably 20, I would imagine..? And some have come back.

Sympathies to Pompey, hope the problems are overcome - we need that rivalry..!

Rangers, well blimey. I didn't see that one coming. If they actually get docked 10 points and have to start cutting their cloth accordingly, it would have huge repercussions in Scottish Football. If ever there was a league that exists purely to give two clubs some others to play, so that they can claim a championship or a cup, it's that one. Scottish Football simply cannot afford to lose Rangers as a big club, so it's going to have to be taken over by a multi-millionaire, if stability is to be restored, or we might see another call for the two Scottish clubs to come into the English League so as to sustain their businesses.

I'm bound to say, indirectly, it's all Rupert Murdoch's fault.
