Won't believe it until it's confirmed. If they do, what are their options...will it make them cheaper for a purchaser?
It's on the sky sports breaking news bar now. I thought the earlier news of advanced parachute money may have prevented this happening.
if their accounts are frozen, how can they 'bank' the money!! pompey going down with no money in the bank!!
It was reported earlier in the Guardian. Chanrai has applied to the courts for admin. It isn't unexpected. Just another episode in the long sorry saga that is football club ownership in this country today. Rangers have applied for admin today as well.
I think Pompey will stay up in spite of this. They are far better than the bottom 3 sides and have a decent manager and good spirit. I suppose it depends if the squad remains mostly intact, though.
They've been cheating the tax man "allegedly" by paying players from an offshore account and as a result, HMRC are into them for nearly £50m. They had a meeting with them a few days ago and have now applied for administration today. It's also worth pointing out that it appears that their new owner is a disqualified company Director who has invested approximately £1 of his own cash in Rangers whilst somehow managing to make himself their largest secured creditor. This means that if they go belly up, he gets all the assets. It stinks.
Indeed. If they get a 10 pt deduction they would not even be in the relegation zone (avoiding it by better goal difference but even so). They have a very decent first 11. If they were to pick up to many injuries then they would be in trouble and of course there is the problem with moral when you have suddenly lost 10 points and are fighting for you survival again.
Ble is if they stay Up They have once again got away almost Scott free if a buyer is found and they aren't wound up! Personally I'm sick of their fans blaming the fit and proper persons test
Gutted to see this happen to Pompey. If there's any consolation, football-wise this is possibly the least bad time for it to happen. You have a fighting chance of survival, you know the players you'll have, and although the summer will be painful, it should give you time to rebuild a team for the following season.
I suspect that they'll survive this, but it does mean that the next owner absolutely has to get it right...there's no margin for error remaining. One more bad apple and they are done.
