Wait until the end of the season. As Arry is on a short list of one for the England job, we can forget going British. Any other Brit would be a step backwards.
Manchini might be an option if he gets sacked by £ity and they get Mourhino.

A long shot might be Slaven Bilic. He might be looking for a different challenge after the Euro's. He played under Rednapp, fluent in German, Italian and English. He would certainly continue the Croatian connection at Spurs. I think he would be ideal for the England job but he would sure be better than than most of the others mentioned.

But is this avoidable ?
I don't know what the WHL development is costing, £300m ? You can't reach teh next level in football without shrewd management and money, and you can't reach the next level of income stream without ground expansion at huge cost.
I make Levy a clever bloke but I'd be interested to hear his 5 year plan because if he can find a way of continuing to take Tottenham up the footballing ladder at the same time the club reduces its expenditure, the man will be a genius.
City won't stop spending, Chelsea might tell everyone they're not spending but they seem set to lose £70m every year, Liverpool are unlikely to stop spending until they find a way back into the CL limelight and then there's Arsenal and Man Utd who already have the infrastructure in place and income streams to compete with the vast majority
That's six teams striving for 4 spots....
 
Mancini would be a disaster imo, he is unbearable in defeat, never takes responsibility.

Agree, there are no Brits in the running as far as i'm concerned.

This is the problem, I am worried that we need a manager that has Harry's man management skills to keep the current squad happy and also the ability to push us on to the next level, and there aint alot of those around.

LOL - I wouldn't go that far, but I wouldn't begrudge any team success if they go about it the right way, and looking at the top of the premier league it wouldn't entirely ruin my Summer if Tottenham won the thing if I'm honest, behaviour/perception is important....
 
I like the idea of Mancini or Blanc should we be unable to keep 'arry or tempt Mourinho.

People may not like the idea of Mourinho's style of football, but we are not Madrid, and are no position to demand substance & Style. I'll take trophies first... besides, its not like we will play like stoke now is it, and he is unlikely to hang around for any length of time. So a few years of Mourinho, then we can look again.... (maybe get harry back?)

You are speaking from experience, Arsenal as a club failed to manage moving to a big stadium without letting their football suffer. In my opinion this is down to Wenger's philosophy, letting experienced and quality players like Gilberto, Flamini and Campbell leave for nothing and trying to replace them with youth which wasn't ready.

City will get hamstrung by FFP
Fulham's junior club will get hamstrung by FFP
Liverpool are a club in decline and will be hamstrung by FFP
United will always be a top club

Which leaves the goons and Spurs. 3 clubs - 4 places.

Oh, Levy is a genius btw.
 
WY - regardless of where the blame lies for Arsenal's failures I know my club will exist in 10/20/50 years time, it doesn't concern me whether we win anything in that time as long as we're entertaining and financially viable.
Tottenham (and you'll hate the analogy here) have every chance of emulating Arsenal and the model employed, maybe you can avoid the mistakes we made an enjoy greater success, but I defy anyone to be successful all the time the chequebook bullies are allowed to dominate football with their money.
It will change though I still have my doubts on how the FFP will be policed, but assuming we get a level playing field it might actually mean looking forward to a season without actually knowing who the 1-2 will be before a ball is kicked...

I think you're underestimating the power of a good legal team.
It won't be long before these clubs will have their millionaire lawyers suing anyone from FIFA to the local council if the rules prevent them from making top 4, I can see spat dummies and thrown rattles everywhere, football could be in turmoil before long, these people aren't used to losing, they don't like it and know that they can buy their way out of it more often than not....
 
Whilst I believe that it's too early in his career for Hughton to be considered a viable candidate, I just thought I'd point out that he does have some European experience.
Barring some dire refereeing decisions, some awful finishing and one of the most fixed looking results I've seen, he'd have taken Birmingham through the group stages of the Europa this year.
The result that saw them our of the competition was very, very suspicious.

you do however have to ask yourself what's in it for a Mourinho/Hiddink/Van Gaal taking over, as someone said above they'll cost an arm and a leg and probably want a substantial transfer pot and committment the players will be paid accordingly.

This is a crossroads for Tottenham I think, take the next step up and it could be a step into the financial unknown at a time when you're looking to reduce costs to sponsor the ground works - without a huge cash injection I don't see how you can achieve both.

Completely understand where you're coming from Grizzly but whichever manager comes into Spurs, comes in on terms Levy has agreed on and I'm sure anyone who knows the English game, knows that Levy ensures he gets what he wants. If Levy were to bring in say Mourinho/ Hiddink/ Van Gaal, all managers who, as you say will cost an arm and a leg to get (which I agree with), will join on the terms that Levy/ Spurs can afford. I'm fairly sure Levy would rather cancel negotiations with the names mentioned to safeguard our long term future rather succombe to their demands which could lead to financial meltdown.
What Levy also does, is offer fantastic bonuses which help entice players/ staff. Such as Redknapp, who supposedly was paid (something like) a £500K bonus for reaching the CC Final a couple of years back, a £1m bonus for Champions League qualification and additional bonuses for the progression in the competition. In my eyes that's a win-win scenario for Levy and Spurs, manager proves a success then he pays out a bonus while also receiving prize money to cover costs and beyond, if a manager doesn't reach targets, he doesn't pay out and we save money. I presume he'd offer similar deals to potential Redknapp replacements to help reel in his target.

I actually mentioned him a few days back. Experience wise he'd be perfect what with European and Domestic glories but he's been away from a decent footballing team for a while now and therefore you have to wonder if he's ready to step back into a more demanding role.
