I heard that too Red(HC). Red, it just spiralled for Liverpool really and they, as someone else said over the weekend, painted themselves into a corner they couldn't get out of. By all means back him but when it become obvious the backing has to stop then stop! Shame really, no one wanted it to come to this at all. The T shirts started it, then not appealing and it just then got out of hand
It's Mr Angry on the LFC board going on about Cantona. Completely ignoring the fact that United banned him themselves. He is one poster though that I simply can't be arsed to argue with as he will completely refuse to see others opinions unless it is inline with his own (as RHC is finding out in another thread )
Also worth pointing out that Utd did nothing to support Cantona, protest his innocence, or try to blame the fan who racially abused him. Even when the FA described him as having brought shame on football and imposed an entirely arbitrary eight month ban with no basis in the rules, Utd made no comment and accepted everything. I think if Liverpool had taken the same attitude towards this whole mess then the problem would've gone away by now.
Oh, you me mean DaDoDoDoDaDaDaDah? Must be a police fan. Yeah, he does tend to rant. Mostly bollocks. Along the libes of EVERY SINGLE United supporter at the cup match sang the 'murderers' song, EVERY SINGLE BLOODY ONE OF THEM, yet NO Liverpool fan has EVER sang about Munich.
It doen't bother me. The bloke that gave me the info is probably my closest mate and wouldn't bull sh.t me on something as big as this.
t shirts started nothing.... they were just players supporting thier team mate. the thing started and ended between two guys on a football pitch. the rest is all just posturing. LFC at just about every chance bar thier message on not appealing said ban and the aplogies given yesterday got it wrong, dalglish handled it badly this week, very much so but a tshirt didn;t cause anything. As for cantona? thats weak assed bullcrap from LFC fans too deluded to see its our clubs actions not anyone elses that the issue and ferguson can say whatever he likes cos its a "free country" if ferguson says he'd like to burn anfield to the gorund he can say that, no probelm, it reflects on him. he didn't though he just said what most should be thinking about the disgrace suarez was. The rest about neve rplaying him again is just sitcking aboot in when its there to be stuck in, plus emotions too.
I'm not questioning you RHC What Ruff has just said about all United fans is bang on but try telling him that. He was there you know..........
I wasn't saying it had an effect on the saga itself, more that it effected Liverpool's position on it. Without the ill advised T shirts the PR for the club would have been far better and they could have come out of it looking better. As it goes it looks bad and the press are onto it, highlighting all the issues. That's all. From Evra/Suarez's point of view the T shirts made no difference but for anyone looking in, and there are millions, they made it worse.
Plus the part of France where the king is from it's a perfectly normal greeting to drop kick someone in the chest
ruff, that is fair i suppose, the tshirts are all part of an illadivsed and rapidly degenerating poistion. Had they had better overall control form on high... ie ayre and comolli and the owners... and in fairnes form the extremely expereienced manager... will the tshirt but also more improtantly in my mind reactive statement to the verdict would not have happened in my view the owners got involved from afar in the decision nto to appeal, they had to get invovled again yesterday so i am thinking someoen needs a reprimand in the upper eschelons of the club as most of the abd things are amateur hour. I mean speaking frankly had comolli and dalglish simply shut up on day one and let one side only do in the refs report the case might never have gone one. The fact is they all got incvoled said all sorts , thus contradicting themselves and suarez then still by the time the case came round had't good advice or breifing. all in all i have to say shabby handling. I'm sure the kic in the chest was the reaosn the french lost the war too eh? fact is he made a mistake in reacting there... and if suarez had of decked evra and called him the racist for what he said he'd have gotten 3 matches not 8... people make mistakes, its how they react (postively or negatively) that matters. suarez has disappointed me i nthat while cantona didn't.
