Truth is we are always looking to improve ourselves no matter what league we play in. Yes we are an ambitious club and our ambitions are that we play any club that can give us a decent game. Playing Pompey would not fulfil that ambition so would not be considered as playing a better club. Especially in Pompey's well known precarious financial position. They of course are desperate for us to be in the same league as they, because that will mean at least one decent gate in the season. Trouble is when we are promoted we still will not be in the same league for long so that will thwart Pompey's ambition once again.
I will have you know that the primary motivation for joining our superior neighbours again is so that we can have the seats of our ground urinated and gobbed on again, keeping everything nice and shiny.
Arfnoon All Just like to ECHO what everyone else has said on this thread about the mods. They do a great job, thanks guys Yes it is by far alot better than the old 606, and is the main reason I bowed to one of the mods and signed up.
CF, I have read this, and have not been disrespectful to anyone that I believe has not deserved it. If someone posts a picture of a scummer peeing on a Pompey shirt on our board I believe he should be told what I think of him and banned. Unlike Meowth I do not find it a "bit of fun" so have chosen to ignore his posts and (apart from this post) stay off your board. Regards, Colin
Colin, agree with your comments about the peeing on shirt pictures, which you also see in car windows with the pee going both ways pompey on saints as well as saints on pompey. uncalled for, and bound to generate a comeback in kind! PS have you seen what some joker has done to your avatar behind your back?
This is the first I have seen and heard about the peeing on shirts business. Apart from a reference made by Pompeymeowth the other day which I understood to be a one off. If I understand correctly you say there is one of a Pompey fan peeing on a Saints shirt. I would like to know what others think of this kind of thing. For me I do not think it funny........No matter which way or for what ever team. Banter is one thing but this to me takes it to a whole different level and something that I personally do not want to take part in. I appreciate others may have a different view hence my question.
I suppose what I was getting at was, if you reply to banter, by describing the poster (not me, btw) as a "cocky scum twat", it could be considered a tad disrespectful! You have already made clear your dislike of Saints and I am not going to change that. But I do find the level of hostility to be surprising.
Why rise to immaturity? These things are everywhere, and really are not offensive they just show the mentality of those who percieve them as funny. Like in anything else you will find a wide range of people and attitudes on these forums, and toilet humour will have to be accepted. Otherwise you would have to walk out of the ground every time the Fratton End sing something a little rude and homophobic, or if you "accidently" turn on Radio Solent when covering a Saints game there may be references to faeces and Fratton from the crowd. Some is funny, much is not, but its easy to rise above it without regarding the more vulgar as not socially worthy of interaction.
