To me this whole affair has been blown well out of proportion in the media and it hasn't helped with every man and his dog(fergie) sticking the ore in. However i have to say i was a bit miffed by Suarez on Saturday giving the whole world the perfect excuse to bring him an LFC firmly back into the limelight. OK, I will admit it must be a very hard pill to swallow shaking the hand of a guy who he(and a lot of us) believes personally damaged his, LFC's and English footballs reputation, out of spite and because basically he's a horrible person. However this should have been dealt with much better by the Uruguayan both for his sake and LFC's. I think Kenny also has to take a proportion of the blame for Saturday hence his apology. He should have taken Suarez aside before the game and made sure that a handshake would be given or even not start Suarez which was probably more sensible considering the emotions involved. On the other side I don't think Evra's behaviour was very professional either even though many will say he was provoked into such a reaction at the end of the game, but Baconface can go **** himself telling us what to do without even acknowledging the poor behaviour of his player (typical fergie). The only positive to come from this weekend is that we are still 4 points of fourth after two average results and still in with a chance. Anyway this whole affair is leaving a bitter taste now after dragging on for so long, and Saturday was another poor day for English football IMO, I just cant wait for the whole saga to be over. The question is whether dropping Suarez will make him think twice about his duty toward LFC and be better for the team both on the pitch and publicly or whether its better to ride out the storm and get him back just playing good football again.
Suarez has served his ban and apologised for his antics on Saturday. IMO he has nothing else to do or say apart from playing well and concentrating on his football. However, even though I think we have been misrepresented by the media and have been harshly treated, we need to repair our image. Perhaps not picking Suarez in the next game will show everyone that we mean business.
Now the Liverpool V Utd games are done for the season it should all fade out - that's as long as Suarez just gets on with his football, probably go and get himself sent off next game or something
Timmy "On the other side I don't think Evra's behaviour was very professional either even though many will say he was provoked into such a reaction at the end of the game, but Baconface can go **** himself telling us what to do without even acknowledging the poor behaviour of his player (typical fergie)." Most Utd supporters agree PE went OTT at the end of the game. Fergie himself mentioned this himself in his interview after the game. I would agree he shouldn`t get involved about who should and shouldn`t play for LFC.
Suarez and Dalglish have nboth made idiots of themselves here - Suarez's OWN comments to the FA Board are what got him banned according to the transcript he admitted everything. On Saturday he and Dalglish both should have held their hands up - Dalglish is the new Wenger "I didn't see it"!! Joke! And Dalglish even said "That wasn't the way I've been told it" - well whoever told you different was lying - I wonder if KD and LS would've apologised if the owners hadn't got involved??? One of the biggest things about it was that it seemed to have a massive detrimental affect on Liverpool's play (unless you're normally that ****e) and everyone was so intent on getting at Evra that football went out of the window and Utd settled and played much better - had he just drawn a line under it and shaken hands then I think Liverpool would've had a much better chance.
bascially no... Its a discipline thing and i thin kthe club ought to have "fined him" somehow but they've all apologised not the least of which is the manager for his own comments. the thing is the game at the weekend is made for him to go forget about it and put some game time between him and his own idiocy... I'm as miffed as timmy here but i think the fa cup can be something good for him to get over the thing...
This Bored of this fiasco. If Suarez is fit, he plays. He is our best attacking player, and that is a fact.
Don't get me wrong I don't think he should be left out of the squad, but in the two games he's been back we have looked average after a good spell of games, admittedly in two of the hardest games of the season. I think use him as a sub until he gets his head right and he benefits the overall team performance. From what i've seen in the last two games he's been a bit like a headless chicken with not much finished product, I'd like to see carroll start the next few games.
That's cus we shoved him up front on his own then proceeded to play the rest of our 9 outfield players behind the ball. Suarez will only play well whilst embedded in the team. Carroll was awful yesterday as per. downing though, my god he is horrific.
If it was me, I'd have definitely shook Evra's hand on Saturday. And made sure I crushed as many bones as I could in a Vulcanesque death-grip
The team have been poor recently and I wouldn't pin that on Suarez. He is often isloated and is far too high up the pitch. He needs to drop in deeper and get the ball. Tactics have been crap ever since we've bought direct players like Carroll and Downing.
Not so, its just been crap when the players haven't performed. Downing is yet to have a good game for us, and without quality from the wide positions, Carroll will only do so well.
Sorry mate I don't agree with this. Take Wellbeck as an example, he was often left high up the pitch on Saturday with Rooney dropping deep but what he did was to do the simple things very well. He made intelligent runs, controlled and held the ball up well and he mixed it up a bit. Sometimes he waited and sometimes he went at his man. Suarez IMO didn't do any of those things well enough. Plus it's slightly harsh to pin too much of Saturdays result on Mandy, Gerrard played poorly, Spearings distribution was grim, Downing needs to be removed from the firing line (quickly) and Kuyt despite his usual hard work did little to impress.
Don't get me wrong, some players have massively underperformed. But we seem intent on getting the ball out on the wing and just aimlessly crossing - this has happened since Downing arrived and since Carroll got a run in the team. Playing Suarez up front is not going to work unless he has support and players to link with. Gerrard was far too deep to make any significant contribution and he needs to be higher up the pitch. Adam and Bellamy made a big difference to our dynamic. Adam gave us more composure in midfield and Bellamy gave us a bit more injection on the wing. I feel Enrique has a much better understanding with Bellamy than Downing.
It looks like they have a better understanding because when he gives it to Bellamy he does something useful with it
Dropped? No chance. He should be the first name on the sheet every week. With Bellamy playing on the wing I think Suarez is the only striker we have that can score a few goal's.
I'd start every game with suarez bellamy and kuyt.. why kuyt? cos he's got a brain, he can't run fast but he's got the brain to get where the other two might create for him. I'd not start with gerrard certain to play nor carroll but i'd want to see a lot more out of them. Bascially for me the biggest flop of all is downing. he's no excuses at all to be doing as badly has i think he is doing.
I think the team performed pretty well in his absence. Carroll has made some of his best performances, particularly against Citeh and United in the cup games, and against Wolves. It makes no sense, and it didn't on Saturday, to drop Andy just to accommodate Luis. I think more should be done to integrate the two of them up front and get an understanding going between them. So in essence, until they show signs of working well together, I can see a good argument for Suarez on the bench until then. No-one has a right to a first team place without form to back up that claim...
