I was hoping for a 5 man midfield Sat allowing Adel to pick it up deeper and run at them the first half was dire and Barton has to take responsibility more I am guessing he is on auto pilot with a cob on regarding tactics Look who our midfield was up against ? Barton somy hasn't the ability IMO to do this role
For the first 70 minutes we had a 1 man central midfield - Barton! Buz was on some sort of leave, possibly sick or injured! I thought MH did the tactics! We didn't perform until Buz went off after about 70 minutes, Adel dropped back and Mackie came on. I reckon Buz should have been taken of latest at half time. Our improvement after 70 was probably also because Bb sat back thinking they were better holding onto their 3 goal lead than attacking our very weak defensive set up - their mistake! Hardly Barton's fault, he ran far more than any of our players, and apart from some bad passing early on he had a good game, particluarly when he had no support defensively in CM.
How refreshing it is coming back and see that nothings changed. Still the same Barton bashing, lets not let the facts get in the way of a good bashing shall we ayh? How is it that Anton escapes any scrutiny? He was just as culpable as Kenny for the first goal, his turning is as slow as a super tanker. And he defended terribly for the third as well, an easy headed clearence it should have been, instead he ended up blaming everyone aroung him. When Young is back I hope to see Onouha and Gabbidon paired. Until this whole Terry/Ferdinand **** is finished I'm afraid we won't get the best from Anton imho. Buzsaky and Taarabt in the same team was doomed to fail. And I will be very reluctant to pick Buz for any away games, more suited to Loftus Road when we're supposed to dominate and dictate games. Kenny has to sit out the next couple of games. Maybe we should do some sort of American trial between Cerny and Murphy? Give them one game each as the next two are at home. To be fair, I can't see that Murphy's any worse than Kenny atm. But Cerny never deserved to be dropped in the first place and should get his chance again. Hope we line up something like this against Fulham: ----------------Cerny---------------- Onouha--Ferdinand--Gabbidon--Traore ----------------Diakite--------------- Barton-------------------------Taiwo ---------------Taarabt--------------- ----------Mackie-----Zamora--------- If Young is fit again after two weeks in Portugal I would drop Anton and move Onouha in the center. Traore at left back instead of Taiwo simply because his timing is better with overlaps and when to join the attack. Taiwo has a wicked shot on him and would get in better positions played in midfield. With this lineup I'm putting a lot of trust in Diakite, only time will tell if he's up to it but I'm afraid we need him to be quality if we're to stay up. Why play Barton and Taiwo at wide midfield? For me they both (along with Adel) possess a rare ability to cross from deep postions. With Mackie and Zamora in the box this can be golden against a team like Fulham who likes to defend very deep. Still very optimistic of staying up. The easy way has never been the QPR way. I fully expect us to take points from the "top" teams, especially at HQ, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs in for some tough games me thinks.
After watching review of game, less inclined to feel buoyant about this 'win'! First goal - Fitz shoud have don emuch better and I thought Paddy should have saved. Seem him save more difficult shots than that. Second goal, poor defending again. Third goal - utter fluke which makes me feel that the change of luck that TF was looking for has not yet occured. Mackie's second was superb. If only he could have dome more of that over the season :-(
I am resigned to the drop at the moment. The only thing that is going to save us is if teams around and below us ship more goals and win fewer games than us. I don't see us winning enough games to catch WBA and if Blackburn keep winning they will overtake us and it is a bun fight between the R's, Wolves, Bolton and Wigan. The sooner Sparky drops Barton the better. Not just from the starting 11 but from the squad, I'd have him training on his own where his lack of any talent and his snidey attitude can't harm the rest of the team. We can bawl our eyes out all we like about unfair sendings off and 'should have beens' but we are in the dookie for one reason only. Not good enough. There, I've said it. Whether it is the players or the management isn't my concern, as a team we are awful and we will deserve the drop if there isn't a drastic and immediate improvement.
I agree with you about Ferdinand, Norway. I think Hall is better than him at the moment, and as Young has been giving away goals with his slowness in realising danger with a wide player running into the box behind him, I think Onouha must keep playing RB. I'd have Gabbi in as well alongside Hall until Anton recovers his form, which may not be until next season when the Terry case is sorted. MH isn't going to go away from 4 4 2 is he? I'd prefer us in the 4 2 3 1 shape we had under Neil myself. I think the players are better used to it and it suits us better. Defensively we need 2 midflield players sitting in front of our back 4, Barton and Diakite could do this job I hope! Then we could have Cisse (Mackie next 2 games at least), Adel and Traore in the 3 (I'd have Taiwo, or Hill if Taiwo doesn't improve and quick, as LB). Zamora up front. If Mackie keeps scoring and Zamora doesn't, Cisse could come in for Zamora.
