No real surprises. Pity as they have had a bit of misfortune with Frimpong and alike, but I think Wolves may be in for a nail biting finish to the season. They were dreadful against Brum in the cup and continue to leak goals.
Don't think he could of expected anything else. Having watched their performance against a average West Brom side I can see why this happened he seems to of lost the players. No drive no ambition no urgency shame for him as I quite like him but they had to move now to stop the rot.
No surprises there then, if anything I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. They picked up 7 points from the first 9 available, then picked up only 14 from a possible 66 since then. Wonder who they will try and get now
Not suprised but I think Wolves are down now. They need an experienced manager and the the only 2 I can think of who are available are Bruce and Warnock, both of which aren't good enough to keep Wolves up imo. I think they should have stuck with him.
I liked him, and still don't feel it is solely his fault. Wolves fans on the whole will tell you, he's done great for them. Several saying he's given them the best 6 years they've had as a Wolves fan. I just feel they need someone fresh with new ideas. Not another over 50 manager who is permanently in and out of jobs. (Bruce, Warnock, Curbishley) Obviously it's different to me as an onlooker, but I'd look at younger managers with potential. If they keep 'em up, all is good. If not, time for a bloody good clear out and freshen things up at Wolves. So I'm going to chuck three names in the hat: Lee Clark, Eddie Howe and Nigel Clough.
Warnock might be. Bruce certainly not lol. Either way no one should hire them, Warnock I read does everything the old school way...something players do not like
How is Curbishley constantly in and out of jobs? Hasn't had a job for about 4 years now, and before that was at Charlton for 10(?) years and West Ham for a year.
I like McCarthy but you look at the money Wolves have spent compared to Wigan, Blackburn and Bolton. Surely they should finish above those three with the squad they had, however whether they can find someone better is hard to judge. Wonder if they would consider Dave Jones?
I can't see Cloughie leaving his Derby, but who knows? He has done well on limited funds, and certainly has passion and good motivational skills. Clark could move but I feel he'd repay his loyalty to the owners. Howe would go I think if the offer came along. Powell? Not just yet, he's better off at Charlton because he has just started building something very good there.
Will miss Mick's interviews. Think he should have been given more time but you're always in danger when you're at the wrong end of the table.
It was fitting with the 50+ bracket. I don't think he'd do much for them. His last two jobs didn't exactly end on reasonable terms. But hey ho.
Another name has occurred to me. If the England set up is about to change, where does that leave Stuart Pearce in the long-term? If he won't be around or wants a fresh challenge it could be a potentially good appointment. But Wolves would have to accept relegation first.
I honestly don't know who they will go for, can't see some of the promotion chasing Championship managers wanting to go there atm (people like Allardyce, Adkins, Hughton and Mackay, all of whom I think Wolves would consider). They will probably end up with someone like Bruce
Agree. I don't think to a Championship manager in the top half, the job would appeal to them. Cardiff, Birmingham, Southampton etc. are all clubs on the up with the managers having assembled their own teams. They'll end up picking one off the roundabout. Warnock or Bruce. Dougie Freedman at Palace? Ex-Player who has done extremely well with limited funds?
I hear Eriksson is still in football wilderness? Maybe he's due a reprieve to the premier league..short term
No surprise there. I thought I'd read about his sacking after Wolves were... well, thrown to the wolves, of WBA, so to speak. As commented by Lee Dixon, on MOTD2, he seemed a broken man, in his post-match interview. And he looked it too.
Jeez, if you want a person to suck money out of a club, buy players they can't afford, and then leave by either being pushed or finding an excuse to get another lucrative contract elsewhere, then get in SGE.
