That's the trouble with great players, they want to play for great clubs.

    That's some statement!

I wouldn't say he was the best player WE have ever had never mind the best player to have played English football!! better than Best in his prime?

I wasn't around when Best played, but I've seen plenty of old videos of him, and he didnt look to have anywhere near the technical ability of Ronaldo. I'd be highly confident that Ronaldo is faster, has more skill, and scores more goals than Best did.

I can even prove he was a better goal scorer than Best.

    Overall career record

    Best appearances 579 goals 205
    Ronaldo appearances 439 goals 235

I think alot of old players have some sort of holier than thou reputation, and no modern day player can be ranked above them in the eyes of some, regardless of what they do. Best was a great player, but I still think he was quite abit behind Ronaldo:biggrin:

Agreed. Best is probably on par which the likes of Giggs and Rooney in the modern era but Ronaldo was/is something else. His attacking ability and shear weight of goals is amazing. I really don't think United would have won 3 titles back to back without him.

I do think Best has to ranked above Rooney and Giggs myself, he did win the Ballon Dor, and he did score a hatrick in a Euro Cup final.

Giggs has always been just a very good player, but he's never been our best player, a great servant though. Rooney is probably our best player now, and that's why weve struggled this season, as he isn't up to being the talisman of a top European club

Ronaldo consistently outscores Messi but doesn't get half the praise Messi does.

Sneijder and Modric coming in the summer?

Silliest thing I've heard all day. The Glazers couldn't afford a rat turd if it was given to them on a plate, along with 100 million pounds.

I don't want Sniejder, he's to old, for what Inter would expect for him. A good player but 30 million for a guy who's 28+ doesnt represent good business for me. To think those Chelsea wollys payed 30 million for a 30 year old Shevchenko, how funny.

I'd honestly love Ronaldo back, I know we would have to pay a fair bit for him, but he's a genius. I can't see it happening myself, who even says he wants to return+ his wages would be ridiculous, not ignoring his transfer fee, and im
Assuming Real Madrid would want most of what they payed for him back, and at 27, I dont feel we would be getting good value for money.

Modric is a good player, but he's not worth 40 million plus, and Chelseas bid of 40 was turned down so I don't see Fergie buying him

Agree with all of this, but Ronaldo brings in so much Marketability that the large transfer fee and huge wages might be worth it. If he did come back though, I'm not sure where he would play, as our team is built more as a team now, I feel like we'd have to adapt our formation and tactics to get the best out of Ronaldo.

If he leaves Madrid, I don't think he'll come back to the EPL unless it was for United. I get the feeling that although he left, he's still loyal to United. I can see him going to Italy, or Russia/Qatar for a huge pay day. He'll also most likely retire in the MLS.

He left united to play for his boyhood club, nothing to do with levels of greatness.

He wouldnt touch your club with anybody else's mate.
