Stable door, Horse, spring to mind, suppose they had to issue someting but this smacks of 'Damage limitation' to me. Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has apologised for refusing to shake the hand of Patrice Evra before Saturday's game against Manchester United. And the club's managing director, Ian Ayre, also strongly condemned the player's actions which led to a heated atmosphere throughout the match. In a statement on the club's official website, Suarez said: "I have spoken with the manager since the game at Old Trafford and I realise I got things wrong. I've not only let him down, but also the club and what it stands for and I'm sorry. I made a mistake and I regret what happened. "I should have shaken Patrice Evra's hand before the game and I want to apologise for my actions. would like to put this whole issue behind me and concentrate on playing football." Ayre also criticised Suarez for failing to shake his opponent's hand. He added: "We are extremely disappointed Luis Suarez did not shake hands with Patrice Evra before yesterday's game. The player had told us beforehand that he would, but then chose not to do so. "He was wrong to mislead us and wrong not to offer his hand to Patrice Evra. He has not only let himself down, but also Kenny Dalglish, his team-mates and the club. It has been made absolutely clear to Luis Suarez that his behaviour was not acceptable. "Luis Suarez has now apologised for his actions which was the right thing to do. However, all of us have a duty to behave in a responsible manner and we hope that he now understands what is expected of anyone representing Liverpool Football Club." http://sport.uk.msn.com/football/suarez-sorry-for-evra-handshake-snub **** should be banned again.
I shall say again MW mate, notice none of the apologies are to Evra? Damage limitation apologies to me and not sincere.
They did a great job of backing themselves into a corner with no escape route, a sincere appoligy would have come weeks ago, this may bring the racism issue to a close but will it restore Liverpools reputation, we all know the answer to that one.
And i very much doubt if the latest press report saying that they are sorry has any input from Suarez. It would have been better if they had arranged a press meeting where Suarez could have faced the cameras and made an apology in person, after all his snub of Evra was seen by millions, just a shame he couldn't apologise in front of millions.
Ok here's one to hoy a spanner in the works.... Suarez should be banned....fair enough... But should Liverpool get rid of him?
I get the feeling that Dalglish and the horrible little twat have been brought to task from the powers that be at Anfield...It is strange to me how both parties have changed their tune so much and so suddenly..
That was my immediate thought when the apologies were announced yesterday. Suarez dug himself into a hole and Dalglish was an embarrassment to everyone involved with Liverpool FC - all on TV for the world to see. I have no doubt that any apologies are upon strict instruction from the club hierarchy, who will have been totally embarrassed and ashamed of the actions of both persons. I wouldn't be surprised if there are further serious repercussions in store for both.
Still one of the biggest names in world football, despite their flaws.... You know that................their name is everywhere...as you well know.......shame like.but it'll never change.
