I'd personally love, love, love to try and get Defoe and think it may be slightly more possible should Harry take the England job which would be pretty hard for him to turn down...

Yes, he would be a great short term solution, quick, powerful and has an eye for goals. Would give us the option we are missing. £10 million would be a good buy.

£10million and he'd be bloody bargain of the century even given his age (and he's hardly old either)! Hard to know what the Carroll solution is though, sell him at a big loss, losing both money and face or persist with him??

I think Kenny's rein will be defined by how he goes about the 'Carroll' question. As he showed yesterday Kenny remains loyal to his players but will it ultimately work against us should he keep the faith in Andy???

I would agree if Carroll was the finished article, but he is young and will improve. He has been better the last few games. We have an excellent keeper and back four, with Lucas back, the midfield will be strong? Do we need more wingers?

Chapions League football, so they can attract the very best players. Or at least that would help.

Iid say we need more creativy and flair in attack, more width, and a more natural goal scorer. I also feel another neat and tidy hard tackling midfield would help big time, and another versatile full back for added depth andstability.

Our current strengths are defending and holding possession. Really we just need to break through defences easier and score more goals.

    In:
Left back (or versatile full back) - Not sure who though, wouldnt break the bank on it.

Centre/ Holding midfielder - Possibilities - Defour, Banegar, Martinez.

Quick, creative left winger - Possibilities - Hazard, Bale - spend big

Right winger - Possibilities - Lennon, Marin.

Strikers - Possibilities - Cavani, Sturridge, Bent, Benzema, Higuin.

I think more ambition to. Give the young players a go.

I like Glen Johnston as he brings width but as you say we're possibly light with players who can beat a man and get the ball in to, say, Carroll. Henderson can't beat a man, Stevie's not a winger, ditto Kuyt and I'm not convinced by Downing as a winger either... We've been (central) midfielder's heavy for a long time...

Think we are good enough at the back, we seem to lack a midfielder with creativity, but think Suarez could fill the role in a deeper lying position with a number 9 in front of him. I really like Sessegnon of Sunderland, he would be a great addition. Think a really good right winger would help to. On paper we have a decent team, why are we 7th only a few points ahead of Norwich when we have players Such as Gerrard, Suarez, Agger, Skrtel, Reina, Enrique, Johnson, Lucas, Bellamy etc. We should in the top four, given the inconsistency of Chelsea and Arsenal.

I agree we are to central midfield heavy.

Look at United. Scholes, Carrick and Giggs isn't exactly a top midfield, but Valencia, Young and Nani do so much for them.

More goals from midfield would help us a lot. A truly great team would have the whole team chipping in on goals, apart from maybe the keeper.

Agree decent wingers would certainly get the best out of Carroll. Ericksson or Hazzard would be a nice start. Kuyt, bless him, does not do it for me and Downing has had a poor start so far.

With Lucas, next to Spearing, Adam or Henderson in the middle and Gerrard or Shelvey in front I think we have a great team to dictate play. Especially with our back 4.

    ------------------Reina------------------
    --Johnson-Skrtel----Agger--Enrique--
    ----------Lucas-------Henderson-------
    ----------------Gerrard------------------

Pick a front 3/ attacking 3 to go in front of that.

and there is no cryptic reason behind why I didn write Suarez. I'm just writing a spine for the team here.
No reason why I choose Henderson from my list of 3 either, it was perfectly randdom.

To me we are a right winger and a centre forward away from being an excellent side.

An enigmatic winger who can frustrate the life out of you somedays but then when on form be absoloutely unplayable. I think you can afford to have one of those players as long as it is only one and not two or three.

We also do need a forward that is proven in the Prem at sticking the ball away. I wouldn't mind us going in for someone like Fletcher from Wolves. Not sure how old he is but scores all sorts of goals for Wolves, wouldn't cost a massive amount. Probably wouldn't be first choice but think he'd be a good option in games where we create a load of chances.

Wouldn't mind seeing a versatile defender either. Someone that can play LB & CB as we do seem a tad short in experience in those areas if Enrique or Agger/Skrtel got injured.

Don't want massive changes but if we address those 3 positions and getred of some more dead wood (Cole & Aurelio for starters) then we should have a budget to get them.
