Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish today insisted Luis Suarez is right to apologise for failing to shake Patrice Evra's hand at Old Trafford.

"Ian Ayre has made the Club's position absolutely clear and it is right that Luis Suarez has now apologised for what happened at Old Trafford," said Dalglish.

"To be honest, I was shocked to hear that the player had not shaken hands having been told earlier in the week that he would do.

"But as Ian said earlier, all of us have a responsibility to represent this Club in a fit and proper manner and that applies equally to me as Liverpool Manager.

"When I went on TV after yesterday's game I hadn't seen what had happened, but I did not conduct myself in a way befitting of a Liverpool Manager during that interview and I'd like to apologise for that."

    Thoughts?

Sounds like they both got a bollocking and have been forced to apologise.

I guess loosing your temper on TV doesnt look good. But he didnt speak out of line like Alex Ferguson.

So how many liverpool fans who claimed to have viewed the video and decided it was Evra who refused the shake would like to re-assess their other conspiracy theories spouted during this whole saga and rejoin the human race . . . . .<doh>

    @jk

I cant be arsed posting the all of Fergies tv rants or the fact that he isolated the national broadcasters of the UK because of his defence of someone that was shown to be guilty on a documentary about bribery in English football(sounds a bit familiar)and his non condemnation of the gutter like behaviour of some his own players social lives.

    But i agree with you.

I could tell from Kenny's expression and tone of voice in that interview that he genuinely hadnt seen it.

Sky were cruel for pushing him like that.

Do you condemn Suarez refusal to shake hands?

KK: I did not see it.

Well it happened I can tell you so do you condemn it?

KK Dont know, you'll have to ask Suarez, if the press did not obsess with 24 hrs a day perhaps it would not be such a big deal..

Bit of a non story really, but according to United fans he lacks class?

Don't really think that Dalglish did anything wrong yesterday.

Agreed, just lost his rag a bit at the reporter, which is understandable as the reporter completely jumped on him. Then again, treat it like a wife, apologise even if you dont know what you have done wrong...lol

I don't agree with how Dalglish has managed the whole saga (though I can understand that managers will always try and publicly defend their players) and I think he was wrong in thinking that handshaking incident didn't raise tensions but I don't think he did anything particularly wrong yesterday, he just got annoyed with the reporter (and the media are all ****s anyway).

I think Kenny has been in a difficult position all the way through this. How can you not support your player prior to him being proven guilty? He was always in a no win situation.....

I think the problem was the head-in-the-sand refusal to accept reality after Suarez had been found guilty
