Seventeen domestic wins in a row, that is almost half a SPL season, but we all know the SPL isn't won in February and so we still have a lot to do, and many, many more wins before we can achieve our aim. Just as we cannot win the SPL in February, we can only have an indication of who will be in the sake up for player of the season. At this time in the season I would put it down to four Celtic players. Brown, Ledley, Forest, and Samaras. Of the four I think I would be incline to edge towards Samaras. Of course not all "Celtic" fans like Samaras but even his most hateful critics, the fans who hurled abuse to him at games, and those who thought they were funny on-line by posting stupid foolish rants endeavouring to be funny, would have to admit in almost all of these games Samaras has played a key role. Yesterday for example, his work rate was phenomenon, chasing back o win balls and to stop Caley breaking out. I don't know how the rest of the season will go but wouldn't it be amazing if our big Greek came out on top of the pile.
Super, I put our goalie in the list of most important players , it looks if it has to be a good goal to beat him at the moment . Rogne was missed yesterday hope his injury isn't one that sees him disappears for weeks . I still believe the refs could be the biggest obstacle going on yesterday's performance
Rebel, what's the point of over the top criticism of players by so called Celtic fans on Celtic forums. Like the idiots at the matches who hurl abuse the best they can hope to achieve is feel to their friends they are smart but if a players friend or family member reads those types of posts it can't be nice. People should remember we are supposed to be Celtic supporters. Harry I agree with our goalie he has also been up there with the best, he never gives up, does he, he has stopped two shots within a cm or two of crossing the line. He could not have picked better teams than he did to do that. Saturday's ref and assistants were too biased to have made mistakes. From start to finish throw-ins and free- kicks all over the field were given wrong. Big Dan's decision was a joke, but Foran was clearly a 2nd yellow and Caley can have no complaint about the 2nd yellow they did get totally blatant body check. I expected McClean tohave done the decent thing and acknowledge they got it all wrong, but I really know that won't happen. Harry, I am a wee bit bemused we have had a fair few wrong decisions this season up to yesterday and I in my naivety thought this season may be different. However we will see over the coming weeks. I hope we are not relying on good results over the last couple of SPL games. Terry Butcher, was a mad angry man yesterday, why does the SFA not investigate his temper difference between losing to Celtic and losing to Rangers.
I don't understand. what in particular was over the top about the criticism Sammy was receiving? His performances were very much below par. They are now very good. The treatment he is receiving at present is befitting of a player doing extremely well. Online comments about how he is playing are very different to jeering him at the ground. Do you seriously think he was playing well?
Rebel I understand you don't know what I was talking about. I was referring to the people who made off the cuff smart-arse comments, making out that Samaras was a useless long haired Greek layabout and that he had no write to play for Celtic. There comments were really over the top and different posters tried to out do each other by being more nasty than the previous post. It wasn't the type of post you would like to read about a relation or a friend. If that was the case and people would not like their own family written about in such a manner, then I suggest posters should not post like that about players from a club they support or claim to support. To me it is o/k to post that a certain player is playing poorly because of what he does, or doesn't do. Maybe giving an explanation why this player is not reaching your desired performance. Other people can reply agreeing perhaps with your estimation of his ability but disagreeing with your analysis of the reason. This can lead to a worthwhile debate about the player without trying to hurt, show hatred, destroy his reputation and his confidence. I would think that would be a much better way of debating a players usefulness or otherwise. Do you understand now rebel.
Exactly It was justified as is the praise now He is now trying hard and playing effectively - he wasn't previously
The Greek fella who used to work in my office in Malta nearly got me done for racism due to me going on rants about samaras.
I was always in the camp that thought he tried hard, it was just not very intelligent what he was doing. Unlike Brown, I did not think George could be coached to do the right things. I was always confident that Brown could be. AND if he could be coached, I didn't think Lennon could do it. Am I wrong? It looks that way. Maybe between them they have decided how George can be used to greatest effect? I heard they had a meeting and ever since then, this is the player we have. None of that masks the fact that George was very poor until that happened and he didn't merit a place in the side. On side note, I saw something from George on saturday I had never seen before and that was frustration. He had a little kick at the corner flag. It was just a token gesture but I did take notice. Usually after flattening lads, he'd be over picking them up and apologising. Not this Georgios. I like it.
The abuse Sammy got on this and other forums was over the top and unjustified. Maltese Mick was nearly been done for racist abuse, I don't know what Mick posted but if it was anything like what the late and not missed Stereo Typist and many others on here I would not be surprised. I think people on this board should have been charged. These so called fans posted worse abuse than was posted against Rangers coloured players. The abuse against Rangers coloured players was wrong as was the abuse against Sammy. The affront that some of these vile posters have to indicate that that odious form of posting had anything to do with Sammy@s current form is really beyond belief. If anything it prolonged his bad form and gave Neil Lennon a tougher job building up his confidence and getting him to regain his form.
But you agree the criticism of his form was entirely justified? FYI, "coloured" is not the preferred term any more. It is considered derogatory.
So fans can't vent their anger at underperforming players? I get that sitting on a forum and being overtly nasty/insulting/rude/offensive isn't the correct way to go about it, but Sammy, after several years and umpteen opportunities, just wasn't doing enough with the game time he was being given. Now however, he is almost unplayable. I have so much appreciation for his languid and somewhat relaxed manner of playing - i know it's what encourages him to get stick, but when you see him glide and ghost past someone with almost no hassle, it's an enjoyable sight. You can tell that, inside of him, is a very technically adept player waiting to get out - shown several times against Caley and since before Christmas - and here's hoping he continues with this form for a long time to come. If he keeps it up, he is exactly the sort of player who can do well for us in Europe.
Super Hooper - Give it a rest ya maniac. I'm sick of reading the inane insanity that spews out from your head. No **** on here wants to hear another Samaras rant from you.
VenomPD I am sick of reading all that mad nonsense that spews out of your head and appears on here. Who gives you the authority to speak for**** on here who may or may not want to hear another post about Samaras. To the best of my knowledge you don't have any more privileges or power on this forum than I have. Please remember that.

I'll reply on Venom's behalf. You are a maniac, a bore, a drug abuser and quite possibly a dog ****er.
