Today could be the last ever edition of that bottom wipe of a newspaper. I really hope so. I can never do their crosswords.
Oh what a joy that would be. If we can get rid of the depress, the red reflection and the pale a clean sweep of rags that major on sordid exageration and opinion rather than news.
As a former employee (boo hiss), I can't help but feel very sad at the very realistic prospect of a lot of great people who will find themselves unemployed. Absolutely shocking what's gone on.
Good riddance scumbags.i place it on a par with Millwall being told they are being expelled from the Football League - no one cares.(apart from the braindead Sun readers)
Rupert has said he will not close the Bun, Why (on BBC 6:00 News) were the Bun employees named but the civil servant, the policeman and the Army Officer, who were also arrested, not named?
I have an Abu Hamza joke - would you like to hear it? (Voices off) "Go on then Tewkes..." This is in the form of a Moral Test - read to the end before making a judgment This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally. Here goes... You are in London. There is chaos all around you caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of biblical proportions. You are a photo-journalist working for a major newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing into the water. Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury. Suddenly, you see a man in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the debris You move closer. Somehow, the man looks familiar... You suddenly realize who it is.... It's the Muslim Cleric, Abu Hamza, the one-eyed, hook handed hate merchant who despises non-Muslims and wants the UK to become an Islamic state!! You notice that the raging waters are about to take him under forever. You have two options: You can save the life of Abu Hamza or you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the death of one of the country's most despised, evil and powerful men! NOW THE QUESTION - AND PLEASE GIVE AN HONEST ANSWER Would you keep shooting in colour or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white?
I think they are named because the media paid to get their names, it's easier to find a dodgy reporter than the other walks of life! lol
That is a tough one, Tewks. It is always sad when any human is afflicted with a damaged and corrupted soul. However, for the good of the masses, it would be better if such individuals did not exist. I like to think I would just walk away without the prize-winning photo. But then I would probably be lying. He would probably try and drag you down with him anyway.
Tewks that reminds me of the Kevin Carter thing slightly and this Pullitzer winnig photo > As you can see it is a horrible photo. It wouldn't work in Sepia but would be poignant in Black & White (although I still wouldn't have it on my wall). Hope this helps.
Yes, an iconic photograph, to be sure and certainly one of the underlying causes for his untimely death.
At least in Tewks's case the photographer would probably drown anyway shortly after publication. And I guess that child isn't quite on the same level as Abu Hamza. There was a film out recently called 'The Bang Bang Club' that I've been meaning to check out.
You may have a bit of a wait to see it on the big screen Kish - as far as I know, it only had a limited release in the States and Canada (certification difficulties) and I don't think it ever arrived commercially over here. There's a DVD on Amazon at under four quid. That might be worth checking out, but at 15 certificate, it sounds like it may not be a full cut.
