Absolutely embarrassing kicking again, every time, either kicked it out of play or to an Arsenal player. Just invited pressure onto us, not once did it go to a Sunderland player. I have said before I thought his positional play was **** and only makes saves hit at him! That first Arsenal goal was terrible, he had loads of time to move his feet, but decided to stay on the left hand of his goal. If he had moved central he would at least have had a chance to attempt a save. Has to be third choice keeper, if that!
Think your a bit harsh on the lad. I agree his distribution is appaling, but all round he's a good keeper, for his age. That said, Westwood gave me more confidence.
Get him out and get Gordon in, and where was Wayne bridge?, why was the ball never played to a Sunderland player in the second half, we have went backwards today losing a game we should have won. Hoof the ball down was the call of the day again, they better put it right next week, and not bringing in a striker could prove costly, rubbing second half just switched off, and maybe that unneeded rep[lay last week cost us.
I don't think I am mate, even when he has options to roll the ball out he kicks it and he is **** at kicking. erm Spuds 2-0 up. hahaha
Didn't even know it had kicked off! Oh well, they were always likely to loss that, but a 5-6 nil would cheer me up.. Tenner on Toon or draw just to cover the possible annoyance
Just back from the game and, aside from turning on the kettle and ESPN to laugh at the skunks, this was always going to be my first port of call. Mignolet wants shot for his performance today. His kicking has always been suspect. We don't have the kind of players in our team for long kicks. Why does he not realise this and distribute accordingly. Did anyone see Arsenal keeping possession by playing short balls to the centre halves? That's how we should be doing it not punting it long in the hope that McClean will get on the end of it. 9 times out of 10 the ball goes out for a throw. I havn't even started on how Henry managed to score from one yard out. Why was this cross not dealt with? any balls into the six yard box are Mignolet's responsibility and he cost us dearly today. Maybe not all 3 points but certainly 1. Westwood in goal for the cup next week and remainder of the season for me. Mignolet is NOT a good 'keeper and needs dropping to reserves. I have to stop typing now. My blood pressure is rising.
His distribution was very poor today, but I have to say that overall this season he hasn't been too bad... PS...5-0 to Spurs now..
Time for Westwood to be back as no 1 IMO. Migs distribution was awful today and for me questions have to be asked of him for both goals
First one i feel he may have done something about it, second was more to do with poor marking tbh. ****ing woeful distribution though
i blame the defence instead of passing they give it to Mig and he always punts it to the opposition so we loose possesion
It's so annoying! I don't expect Barca-esque play, just to play with in our means and hoofing it to Sess is not at all helpful
and cos' our midfield were so tired all of the second balls went to them and we were under pressure straight away
My first thoughts on Arsenals first were based on a **** stream Just watched it on MOTD, it was worse absolutely dreadful positioning and left a huge target for the shot. I agree with OJO he should have done better with Henry's, but Turner just watching was just as bad.
It was poor by the defence, yes; but any ball coming into the 6 yard box should be the keepers all day long, no matter who they have to clatter. Mig is a good keeper, but it is time for Westwood to come back inbetween the sticks.
I like Mig and think he is a good keeper, he was however brought in to be number 2 and learn and thats now possibly number 3 dependingg on how Gordon is. I'm all for MON sticking with the players who are doing he job but its crunch time for Mig, IMO. If Westy had not taken ill he would still be in goal, he needs to be back there. I sat in wonder today watching a 5 foot striker trying to win headers against a 7 foot Defender, surprisingly he failed.
Granted he had a poor game yesterday but on the season overall I think he has been at the least, competant. I have faith in the lad. He is only young but will get better and IMO will go onto be a great keeper. I'd feel more confidant with Gordon, but for the moment I'm happy with Mig.
I think Mig is one for the future. At the moment, my heart is in my mouth every time a cross comes in. He just seems too indecisive. But, I believe he will get better with time. I think it is, very much time, to bring back Westwood: he just commands his area & he has a decent kick!
