On a lighter note, this is now my longest match thread so far! Shame most of the posts didn't actually have anything to do with the football on the pitch!
It wasn't as important tbh - Anton and Terry were the respective team captains so they had to do the shake and exchange the pennants when asked by the ref. That would've been an absolute farce if the ref was standing there watching some bizarre form of Mexican standoff! Also, Anton had told Hughes he wasn't going to shake Terry's hand whereas both Dalglish and Ferguson had said their respective players were going to do the handshake. We won! Nothing else to report...
That's what annoys me slighty! There is more talk about two players NOT shaking hands than the actual game! Though with the result being what is was, it's not too bad that everyone has forgotten the game and result...
Suarez vs Evra is exactly how both Suarez and Evra prefer it to be. Both are individualists with their own agenda to satisfy. Evra is very fortunate to be playing for a club with such a strong sense of collective responsibility. If he was at Chelsea, Arsenal or City, we'd see far more of his true nature, which I would compare to the likes of Anelka and Henry. He walked off today like a conquering hero, as though he personally was responsible for the win.
Well, what can I say? Utd have so many good wins that we don't need to obsess about yet another dominant victory over a mid table opponent
Don't know if it's already been posted but look at this - https://twitter.com/#!/jwidnell/status/168393250045046784/photo/1 Suarez clearly extends his hand and Evra has put his down.
This comment sums up that picture: If you took a freeze-frame of a video of me doing squats, it'd look like I was taking a ****.
So that isn't Evra's hand on his hip and Suarez hand extended? It's nothing like the example you give.
this handshake business is nonsense it was bound to cause trouble, anyway im sick of it its all bollacks im just glad we won i thought we played very well today i was surprised that bellamy didnt start, we gave away a soft goal but it was a vital win i think weve got a good chance now to win number 20
Well comrade, you got the win as you predicted(i hope you never won any money with the bet you were talking about doing)
evening comrade i didnt actually have a bet on the game , i would have lost anyway probably would have gone under 2.5 goals, im just glad the game is over it wasnt very pleasant was it , but this handshake thing was bound to cause problems why they cant just shake hands at the end of the game i dont know why,im relieved we won though it was a vital win very suprised bellamy did not start.
The handshake was a joke and Utd deserved the win. But the aftermath will just carry the saga on and on,not that it will worry Utd. The sooner the Suarez thing is done, dusted and forgotten the better.
thought enrique who i think is a good defender looked a bit rocky today, valencia gave him a lot or trouble
Enrique came back from injury 1 game to early and it showed today the way Valencia ran him ragged a few times.
the problem these days with the modern game is that theres so much media , radio , tv the internet 24 hour ****e, i mean im all for a bit of analysis and talking about the game, but its all too much, 20 years ago this situation would not have gone so far, i agree with dalglish actually that theres to much of it, i remember when eric kicked that palace fan it was like world war 3 had broken out
So you dont think Enrique was'nt his usual self? I think Downing has'nt been worth the shirt in most games this season but Kenny's stubborn and plays him to justify his purchase.
Sick of Downing, he's done nothing all season. Its almost like playing with 10 men every game he starts. At least Carroll is starting to look like he's putting some effort in, even though I still dont think he'll ever really be good enough Enrique had a tough game, came up against two players who played really well today and got no support from his winger, which shockingly was Downing.
