We have seen today that this league is far from over, with officials like that, it could still go to the wire.
Good shout Pud. Solid and reliable. At the monent you could say that about mosts Celts. Who would thought this time last year big Sammy would be busting his gut regular. Lennon has the chomping at the bit. Second half tetchy? Had to drop kids off so missed.
Maybe I should have read the thread before posting the above. Officials weoful? Or worse? You the man Rebs, any up on youtube yet for second half?
Sellick only complain when they lose....... Sweet suffrin' **** that was daft. The only correct decision all day was the second yellow for Caley.
Big Maj sent off on 60 minutes for what looked like a good tackle. Foran wrestles Brown to the ground. No second yellow card. ICT had a couple of decent chances. Celtic dug in. Brown, Wanyama, Ledley, Sammy and Mulgrew were immense. ICT down to 10 men after 78 after Williams got sent off for blocking off Sammy after a brilliant bit of skill from the big man. Probably a bit harsh but looked like referee balancing up after realising he'd made a mistake sending of Maj. Nail biting last half hour but the bhoys dug deep and ran their hearts out. Not a brilliant performance but if anyone was in any doubt about the player's determination to win this title then they must surely be dispelled now.
After match analysis from the 'experts': today's result wasn't the sign of champions, ie. digging out results when needed. Oh no, today was 'proof' that the title race is far from over. Now, I'm not averse to that way of thinking but how many times did we hear last season when Rangers had scraped by the likes of Killie and St Mirren that it was the 'sign of champions'?
Danny sending was a disgrace , the linesman was more at fault than the ref , he had the same perfect view as me !! What about the stadium clock being wrong today once we went down to 10 men I got nervous was watching it got to 85 mins , then the board went up , a missing 5 mins that went in our favour
As I had a rant there France / ireland rugby has been called off 5 mins before kick off ,80000 in ground maybe the spl isn't that bad after all
Strange game today - relieved to hear the final whistle and see another three points bagged. It looked like we suffered a bit from the effects of Wednesday's game but the referee certainly didn't help matters and his so-called assistants were a disgrace. To be fair, wasn't it Mclean who produced red cards for McCullough and Goian in the Rangers/St Mirren game? (Maybe he was trying to make up for that! )
It was a strange game when we had eleven players , never looked like scoring but every touch Forrest had we looked like scoring, only touched the ball 3/4 times still led to the goal . .Ledley is becoming the most important player in the team , my pal sits near dug out and said Lennon was getting in discussion with fans in that section over his tactics 2nd half , some of them unhappy taking hopper off
Agree - thought Joe Ledley was superb and of course, his goal (from James Forrest's excellent work) was obviously crucial. Scott Brown, for me though, is an absolute gem - his maturity, work-rate and energy level as shown particularly in the last few games, have been immense. Must admit, I understood the thinking but did have my doubts about Gary Hooper being taken off and replaced by Ki Sung Yueng - seemed just a little bit early in the game, with another 20 minutes or so to go, to be giving up our main goalscorer and his overall work-rate.
Why are Celtic asked to win these games we get 3/4 per season when the officials are more dangerous than the actual team were playing , Celtic should have made more noise after the WInS against st mirren and Falkirk where we were on the end of some very dubious decisions. I expect Lennon to make an noise after today , though the linesman as at St mirren was more at fault than the ref
The refs brother used to play for the Huns. Terry Butcher is livid......
I agree, Celtic should definitely make a complaint about the refereeing standard today and appeal the red card shown to Daniel Majstorovic. There were some inexplicable and poor decisions made throughout the game. Have to say, though, that Daniel was a bit too casual in getting back to shepherd the ball in that instance - his awareness was poor as he was slow to see the danger from the ICT player racing to get there first.
Butcher initially refused to do an interview for the BBC yesterday.....Think he's aiming for McCoist's job?
Maj, to a certain extent, only has himself to blame for being so blasé about any potential threat as he strolled back towards goal. However, it was not a red card and he does have the backing of the ICT winger: "I told him [Majstorovic] I thought he was unlucky," revealed Hayes. "My initial reaction was to go back into my position as I thought he got the ball." Does anyone know the extent of Rogne's injury? The sooner he's back, the better. Even if Majstorovic's appeal is successful I would still be tempted to play Mulgrew alongside K Wilson at CB and either play Izzy at LB or move Matthews to LB and play Cha at RB. This might seem severe but I don't want Majstorovic back in that team unless we're left with no other option. What's happening with Lustig?
Lustig is fit now. Should be in the next match squad. I agree that I'd rather see Mulgrew at centre back than Dan. I wonder if Lennon is easing Izzy back in or if he's just not fit enough to play yet?
