Dudg can play either full back, wide or central midfield and gives us energy and competitiveness, which is a great option from the bench.
Jay's worth a shot up front. Linked up well with Stewart last season and if anything it'll keep Fryatt on his toes.
The thing with Simpson is, unlike Fryatt and McLean he never had an extended run in a decent City side. He went from being our only striking option in a **** side to being completely out of the picture. Many fans, myself included, will feel that even 18 months into his time at the club they still haven't seen enough to judge him properly. I feel like I've been watching Fryatt and McLean all my life, they're that predictable. It's a great option from the start, but if he isn't good enough to play then solely because of his position, he isn't worth a spot on the bench in my opinion. I'd understand it if we had 2 or 3 other attackers on there giving us options but having a specialised full back when we don't have any attackers just doesn't make sense. Especially when we have so many attackers completely out of the picture.
I thought Cooper was a CB? I still maintain Dudgeon is better than Dawson and even though he could have deserved MOM against Donny; still doesnt change my mind. 3-0 win tomorrow with Simpson getting 2 from the bench sounds nice... obviously a Koren 25 yarder as the other goal. UTT
Thats a really good point. The kid who lacks match fitness doesnt even make the bench. Plus shows his lack of impact no one even noticed he isnt included.
Well Luckily for us its Nicky who makes the decisions on who plays. Jay Simpson cannot complain and needs to knuckle down and maybe look at himself in the mirror. Even Millwall washed there hands of him. Not looking good for ya Jay. Pull your socks up.
looks like you have answered the question yourself. NB see him every day we dont. shame but OJ only has himself to blame. shape up OJ or ship out.
Depends on the rest of the bench. For example, if it was: Carson, Cooper, Dudgeon, Olofinjana, King. We rarely bring on a defender as a substitute so why have two? Cooper could replace Hobbs, Chester or Dawson, and if absolutely necessary Chester could be moved to right back if rosie comes off. And I think we'd all rather see Olofinjana brought on as a replacement central midfielder than Joe Dudgeon! And again, for the left midfield position, I'd rather see a striker shifted across there than Dudgeon. Just because he CAN cover left and centre midfield, it doesn't mean he's necessarily a good choice in all of those positions, and certainly should not be ahead of players who are primarily wingers/centre mids.
You can't just base it on that though - obviously if he's absolutely god awful in training then fair enough - but if he's just poorer than the rest then it shouldn't be the only factor in your decision to start/bench/leave out a player. He's had what, 4 minutes on the pitch since he came back from Millwall? And he teed up Stewart for the third goal vs Ipswich. After that you'd at least think he would get a few sub appearances to see if he can continue making that sort of impact.
Absolutely no problem having a player on the bench who can cover three positions on the field. It's a no brainer isn't it ? Joe has played well when he's come in all three positions,so what's the problem ?
King will be on the bench, think its Carson, Dudg, Oli, King, McLean - although that wasn't 100% confirmed.
No problem at all except that having Cooper on the bench means we have two defence players on the bench but no striker options, which IMO is plain stupid
4 Mins??? Has he played in a match I haven't seen then? Thought he has only played in Ipswich match and that would be lucky if it was 1 min. Afraid I totally disagree with NB, he should be given a chance. Fryatt and McClean are just not delivering the goods and should be left out. Not saying OJ would be any better but he certainly can't be any worse.
