Personal feelings aside, as there are a number of reasons I wanted to go to Burton today, I think it will be good as although there will be a bit of fixture congestion later on it gives us a chance to get some key players fit. There are a lot of injuries and illness in the squad at the moment. Also it resolves the problem of 2 games in 3 days, which was never going to be ideal, assuming the match on Monday will go ahead. Looks like the temperatures will rise a bit over the next coupl of days, so hopefully there won't be any problems with that one.
Oh well. At least it means that your players will be fresh and ready to beat Southend on Monday. And also time for Keds to recover from his illness.
I wanted this game to go ahead today, simply because I think it would have relieved some of the pressure away from home. Despite the refund episode, most away supporters are a pretty hardened bunch and are more tolerant of our failings on the road. However, at home the expectations are much greater. So it would have been nice to have tested the team out against Burton today, before the arrival of the TV cameras.
And again on a personal note, I have now performed my domestic duties and am therefore now free to sit down in the warmth of my own living room with a beer or two and watch Italy - England. Every cloud and all that...
