Does anyone remember when Ravanelli went to Middlesborough on £42 or £52K per week !! That rocked English football !
Same season Chelsea paid Gullit and Vialli tax free £1m signing on bonus and £100k a week - they managed to keep this quiet though so no media attention....
Grizzly they certainly did !! My recollection was Ravanelli was comfortably the highest paid baller in England.
I knew someone very close to Chelsea at the time, infact they weren't just close they were in the inner circle, he'd have no reason to lie to me - and given the way they booted Gullit as manager a few years later (pre Abramovic) it all made sense...
You need to explain. How does Ruud getting a 1m signing on bonus have anything to do with him getting the bullet years later.
The nature of his departure and how the decision makers went behind his back to hire his replacement, the insistence/desperation of both situations was similar
Sturidges apparent unhappiness with his salary AND his playing wide can both be solved when the vastly overpaid , under performing others contributing to these situations are moved on. This should happen at seasons end, and, if and a very BIG if, AVB is still there, we should see considerable improvement in attitude, harmony and especially, play from ALL our squad, not just Sturridge.
