Well, I hope Levy finds the money from somewhere. Otherwise, I fear Piskie may actually be right, for once. It will be very difficult to hold on to players of the calibre of Modric, Bale et al on the basis of jam tomorrow.
You may call me delusional, but I feel that football, as a sport, should be about teams winning things and people gaining enjoyment from watching them. You may feel differently, but I don't feel that the primary purpose of football is money making.
The difference between the Premiership and the Championship is that in the PL, you're more likely to be punished for having the temerity to play good football and try and compete by having key players spirited away by teams that like to keep their place among the status quo - even moreso this season with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all looking likely to miss out on their previously assumed Champions League paydays for next year. We've suffered it a few times (most notably with Carrick and Berbatov, and Chelsea were exceptionally blatant with their attempts to snatch Modric), Villa have been strip-mined in recent seasons (Barry, Milner, Young, Downing, with Bent looking likely to be next), and Everton could be the next carcass the vultures circle over.
Rogers is nowhere near ready for a club like Spurs. He has shown promise and hopefully will develop into a good manager - but it is only a couple of years since he was sacked by Reading.
