According to the Sunday Sun SUNDERLAND are eyeing France international frontman Kevin Gameiro as a possible replacement for Darren Bent. Gameiro is rated at around ã15million by his club Lorient, but that price tag will not put Sunderland off after they banked ã24million from the sale of Bent to Aston Villa in January. But the Black Cats face stiff competition from Spurs and Arsenal for the Lorient hitman ââ¬â and Gameiro may not end up in the Premier League at all after indicating that he would prefer a move to either Spain or Italy. The 23-year-old started his career at Strasbourg before moving to Lorient in 2008, since when he has hit 43 goals in 96 league games and finished as top scorer for his new club for the last two seasons.
i'd never heard of him, but just been looking and it seems everyone is or has been linked with the lad, another name for safc to be linked with
Our chief scout has been quoted as saying we are looking at him aswell, be interesting to see who he would go to!
i think someone like sturridge would be good for sunderland or try to get welbeck if they offered good money wouldnt be too surprised if man u would let him go
And Sunderland are more likely to splash out are they, what with your failing gates and threats of top players being flogged to balance the books. Never fear Frazier Campbell is on the mend
Sunderland have not banked ã24 million off the Bent sale. More like ã6 million as Quimm said. Sturridge is a good player like--but would probably cost close to ã20 million... abit of a gamble but may be worth taking. What about his wages though--he be on a bomb at Chelski .
think it way too early too comment on the pros and cons of this speculation, but for the record Geordie Boot Boy (oh dear.....) we are all delighted young Fraser is on his way back too!
