yes and no i think, great if we can get him, but wish it could be sorted out totally as it could be the same next season. personally i wish we could buy him or move on to someone else, lots of confusion when it comes to loan players
According to both Steve Bruce and Niall Quinn it is in the hands of Man Utd and they have given no indications either way, I doubt anything will be decided till after the summer spending spree of Man Utd TBH. If they don't buy then they may keep him seeing as how he's done so well for us, if they do buy he could become surplus for next season and we may get the second year loan deal. One thing is for sure, they won't sell him, he's done too well and raised his profile too high.
What ever happens, we MUST have Danny Welbeck playing for us next season. I still don't think the rest of the country realise just how good this bloke is.
Unfortunately, I'm not so sure that we will get Danny for a second season if recent media reports are to be believed. Michael Owen is set to be released at the end of the season and Obertan is going to be offloaded too after failing to make the grade at Utd. That leaves them with 5 recognised strikers/centre forwards for next season, if you include Danny. I very much doubt that SAF is looking at his striking options when he needs a big money keeper and replacements for some of his aging midfield.
If this is true, then I'm very happy, but the news of the world isn't exactly renowned for its closeness to the truth...
They need a keeper so why don't we offer them Gordon as part of the deal? Personally i'd rather have Welbeck than Gordon(who is a very good goalkeeper), but not irreplacable imo
thats a dubious debate, cos i'd rather have a fit gordon than wellbeck, simply because there always seems to be an abundance of strikers around, but finding a top g/k is usually a problem, what if mig gets injured
so what would be the general feeling, a fit gordon or wellbeck, got a feeling what most will say, but i stand by my thinking a top g/k is unreplaceable
Goalkeepers cant win games, they can keep the ball out for a draw, but a good back 4 keeps the chances on goal to a minimum, and a decent strike partnership gets the goals that win games, our poor run came from only 1 fit striker, so for me Danny's a must, Gordon plus a few bob, and I'm sure hell be ours, and still young enough to grow into a household name
I'd swap Gordon for Danny in an instant, despite my belief that Gordon's one of the best. Facts are, there are stacks of good goalkeepers around, no 2 ways about it, there aren't stacks of young, hungry, English strikers, with skill to burn.
Still think he'll be back at Man Utd next season trying to break into the first team, would be great to get him bought but can't see it as SAF will probably want big money for him. As for swapping Gordon for him not sure about that one would prefer to keep both.
Why did this become about necessarily trading one of our players for Welbeck. I've said it before but I really can't see SAF doing a deal which involved loosing Danny Welbeck permanently at this juncture, so I think speculation around Gordon or Henderson going the other way in exchange is spurious. I wouldn't want to loose either by the way. I would however like to see Danny at Sunderland for another season and think that maybe possible on loan and I'd settle for that. I dont see how loan deals complicate things either, in fact they are often as long term these days as so called permanent moves that break down after a season or two at most. They are a big part of the modern transfer and squad systems.
