Calm it lads, this article has diddly squat to do with how big Arsenal or Chelsea are. It seems a sensible post so discuss the topic! I personally don't think Sturridge is unhappy at all at Chelsea, he's playing every game and is one of our key players. I remember watching an interview with him on Chelsea TV stating he saw his future here and that he was slightly disappointed he wasn't playing through the middle but happy to play anywhere the manager put him. I saw this rumour on the BBC site and it was The Fail who decided to write it.
I don't see it as happening. Would cost way too much for a player of the kind of quality we could get elsewhere for less.
Just hope he doesnt get upset or disillusioned at seeing everyone getting picked over him in the position he wants to play.. I think he does an Ace job out wide, better then Anelka ever did imo.
One of the other reasons I should've stated, he's on quite a large salary of around £50,000 I've heard. I'm guessing he'd be looking for a big rise after his recent performances.
I can't see Sturridge coming to Arsenal as we already have Walcott how plays in the same place and who also wants to play through the middle. Then factor in Gervinho, OXO, Miyaichi and it seems unlikely....The most likely outcome is Arsene buys a proper no nonsense striker, subject of course to RVP staying or leaving....
Agreed, he's similar to Hulk at Porto just with age slightly on his side. If Torres continues the way he does I'd give Sturridge a try through the middle to be honest.
I can With Chamakh likely leaving in Summer, and Bendtner seemingly determined not to go back, a new striker is definitely needed. One that can rotate with van Persie or allow a change in formation (shifting RvP into the hole and playing 2 strikers) would be great. A second striker Arsenal fans can believe in would be welcome.
Why is it wrong having an owner who is prepared to put money in rather than one who wants to take it out? Fact is when other clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool were the big spenders money was never raised as an issue. Now that they don't they cry like babies about it.
To be honest that's what I don't understand, I can't see him leaving consistant first team football to be in the shadow of one of the best! Not to mention his wage demands plus the fact I can't see us accepting anything less than £25m for him ESPECIALLY if he goes to the euros.
Also, I think arsenal have a bigger turn over then Man Utd and City, so going by that logic Arsenal are the best deomestic team in britain... Epic. On topic.. imo Theo is no where near the player Studge is.. Arsenal seem to have a lot of sub par strikers that need to get the boot. I feel that we shouldnt be paying a 22 year old any more than 50k a week, thats where we've gone so wrong. And he being 22 years old will want to end up playing through the middle sooner rather than later. We still have Drogba, Torres and thew big Lukaku who will all get there before him. And knowing chelsea we will replace Drogba / Torres with some big money signing ____________ Do you think RVP will stay if Arsenal dont invest? Someone will obviously come in with an offer as he has been red hot this season.
I really hope Wenger gets a proper striker in after flogging Bendtner and Chamakh during summer. But is Sturridge really the guy for us? Although i like him a lot, will he really get to play through the middle? I really believe that Wenger is grooming Walcott for that position, which will also be a deciding factor for Walcott staying or leaving. Also how much will Sturridge cost? Me think a bit too much for Wenger, who i think will opt for a cheaper, foreign alternative.
I've followed Arsenal for over 30 years and don't remember us being 'big spenders'. Our biggest transfer deficit for a season was £16m in 03/04 when we spent £13m on Reyes in the Jan...
Arsenal dont spend, which is why you dont win things.... Generally speaking, the teams who spend most at the beginning of each season go on to win the PL. Sad but true. ____________________ Think Studge would do an amazing job for arsenal. Would be a great signing, be honest do you think Theo would ever be good enough to be a striker playing through the middle?
Im still not sure Walcott fits our style of play, as he lacks the necessary technique. If we play to his strengths then he can flourish. Sturridge has better technique than Walcott and would fit better in our system and succeed as our center forward. However, we already have Joel Campbell who is a future striker for us. It comes down to money and i doubt Arsene would bother....sad really.
No not really. Yourselves, Liverpool and City have all spent more heavily than Man United in recent years.(we were never the top spenders even when we were regularly winning trophies) Besides its not Arsenals lack of 'big signings' that's really been the problem its the fact we've sold soo many top players. We could still have the likes of Fabregas, Nasri, Adebayor, Diarra, Toure etc.. had the board chosen not to cash in.(without ever having 'spent big') I would like sturridge at Arsenal but i doubt Chelsea would let him to to a rival for cheap.
Got a massive amount of respect for arsenal and wengers running of the team... I just feel if you bought 1 or 2 classy players you could be sooo much better and you wouldnt ruin the mentality you have at building a team from younger players and not spending etc etc.
No what i should say is teams who win the PL are usually the teams that spend the most in the summer.
