http://wearethenorthbank.com/england-international-hawked-to-arsenal-by-agent/ You may recall an article I wrote regarding Arsenalâs transfer window inactivity. This caused a deluge of tweets guessing at who the England International that had been hawked to Arsenal was. At the time I didnât want to name the player but having been inundated with requests to reveal who the player is, Iâve decided to do exactly that. Arsenalâs Chief Scout, Steve Rowley received a phone call from Michael Sturridge, the father of Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge. Sturridge Senior told Rowley that his son wanted to play for Arsenal, that he likes their brand of football and believes Arsene Wenger is the manager that can get the best out of him, certainly more so than Andre Villas Boas at Stamford Bridge. Rowley has since scouted Sturridge personally and Arsenal may well make a move in the summer. Of course, agents and advisors contact clubs in this manner all the time to put them on alert of availability. Sturridge may well harbour ambitions to join Arsenal, but remember that interest from rival clubs in a player can prove a valuable bargaining chip when renegotiating contracts. With Sturridge having been Chelseaâs most potent striker this season, and with two years left on his current contract, the England international would command a big transfer fee, which you could say would rule a move to Arsenal out. And Wenger may not see Sturridge as a priority signing and best use of his transfer budget. What is clear though is that Wengerâs interest in Luckasz Podolski shows his intention in providing similar cover for Robin Van Persie â a mobile, versatile left footed, international class striker. Sturridge most certainly fits that bill â he has âsuper qualityâ. There is also the fact that RVP is still to sign a contract extension to his current deal that expires in June 2013 â a niggle that plays on the minds of all Gooners, and Wenger himself. I came across this earlier and thought it would make some interesting discussion amongst you Arsenal and Chelsea fans. I for one think that Sturridge is an exceptional young striker and would be fantastic at Arsenal. What do you all think of this?
Sturridge would be a great addition at Arsenal. Chamakh and Park are clearly not up to scratch and arshavin will most likley be sold in the summer. The guy is going to be a TOP TOP class centreforwrad, he also seems like an 'arsenal-type' player.
Interesting - and says plenty that he doesn't want to be part of the Chelsea set up. Perhaps the most comforting thing for me is that the player (it seems) would want to join Arsenal whether we finish 4th or not suggesting that Champs Lge football isn't critical in the players wishes for next season, this is in stark contrast to the belief of the vast majority of Arsenal fans who believe that failure to finish 4th would see RVP walk, and rule us out of signing any quality players, and confine us to years of mis table mediocrity. Either way, he's a talent for sure, still young so can/will improve and probably not far off being an auto pick now....
On what do you base that? If the player is unhappy & has only 2 years on his contract, and refuses to sign a new one, you'd think the club would cash in rather than see his value decrease hugely as the contract wears down.
Chelsea is still a world class club, one of the biggest in the world, a bad season does not change that..... This season will finish strongly and next will be amazing, your an idiot to make such sweeping statements "TheHotHead" However, Sturridge would thrive at arsenal, he really would.. would be a great signing for the gunners and he doesnt seem to like playing under Boas.... I do hope he stays though, chelseas biggest prospect since terry.
No - you have one of the richest owners in the world but you are certainly not one of the biggest chum
I think you'll find we are...chum. Just look at global support, revenues etc. We may have got there as a result of a rich owner etc but the facts are we are now one of the biggest clubs in the world. Don't let facts or bitterness get in the way though...
Maybe but ultimately any problems (which thus far are conjecture) can be sorted out in the next year. If not we are still looking at 15 months before this is an issue anyway. Plus Sturridge is far too good, far too English and now probably too old to be a Wenger signing.
5. Arsenal: 251.1m euros 6. Chelsea: 249.8m euros Not so far behind Arsenal either according to the Deloitte figures.
Is that based on turnover/income ? If I was a Chelsea fan it would be a hollow gloat given that the club lose £100m or thereabout every year - there were even celebrations the otehr day because Chelsea reduced their annual debt to around £60m ??? Hell of a way to run a club....
Bitter ? Why would I feel bitter you donut ? We are ahead of you on the list I see little to be jealous or bitter about regarding Chelsea - we've endured our worst start for 58 years and we are still just behind you. You've spent millions and are going backwards, we've spent F'all to go backwards !!
Yes the losses look bad but ultimately you spend within your means. Our means (as a result of Roman) meant we could spend 50 million on one player. If and when FFP kicks in, this type of spending will be reigned in but we will still have large income from other revenue streams. If say we hadn't bought Torres we'd practically have broken even yet would our team be any worse off??!?!? Anyway this is about Sturridge to Arsenal not measuring the size of our cocks.
The bitterness I imagine comes from the lack of trophies in the last 7 years, not where we stand on some list someone literally just showed you.
What an idiot... being one of the big teams in the world stage has nothing to do with spending debt or anything, thats a whole other story in regards to longevity, AB is not leaving so financially we are safe and going in the right dirrection. Dont delude yourself by thinking Arsenal are a bigger name on the world stage then Chelsea..... You wont even beat liverpool you tool. If anyone jumps ship from any clubs RVP will be the first...
