For me it's productivity. By comparison with other wingers in the league how is he doing? He has 3 goals & 9 assists in the league so far this season in 24 games - that's one in two
The problem is Arsenal have hada level of profligacy unrivalled by most, we are too wasteful and in tight games we lose out. If 3 out of your 4 main attacking threats miss far more than they score, how can we expect to win anything or go forwards ?
Walcott has been decent this season but should be doing better on the scoring front. I think we will see him do well in the Champions League and hopefully it will pick up his form in the league. The bottom line is players like Walcott, Gervinho, OXO and Ramsey should all be contributing goals wise. Too much pressure is put on RVPs shoulders at present.
I concur. I'd judge a player on Assists as well as Goals tho - seeing that killer pass is a crucial part of the modern game. The major issue with this is that often RvP is the only player in the box, so he's realistically the only player who's going to score! When Oxo is tearing down the left, I'd like to see Rosicky / Ramsey, RvP & Theo all in the box waiting.
Exactly! It's strange no one wants to get onto one of those passes into the box. It's like everyones shy of running into the box... Yes agreed, assists are important but we all know that Walcott's all about scoring. He is a natural born striker and i think him not scoring has/will affect his confidence. I can see this changing in the coming weeks.
Apps - Goals - Assists - Minutes Gervinho 24 - 4 - 6 - 1699 Walcott 31 - 6 - 10 - 2391 Walcott's Goals and Assists per minute is better - you lose that bet.
you are wrong AGAIN - read the context. It was saying Walcott misses less than Geronimo- You really should pay attention.
Ah - I apologise - why is missing relevant - I could say Gervinho doesnt get into scoring positions as well as Walcott, isn't that just as bad as missing?
Perhaps you cant read, Redknapp is that you?? For a start your stats are wrong and secondly its not relevant what he has done in a weaker league, it does'nt make for a fair comparison. Also you would need to include a shots to goals ratio to prove what I said wrong. Gervinho's all round play has been excellent other than the fact his finishing has been abismal.
Did I mis-copy - here was my source, I quoted their all competitions record. http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/theo-walcott/profil/spieler_33713.html http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/gervinho/profil/spieler_33481.html
5 goals and 10 assists according to the PL site, although I admit this looks high?? I am sure they wouldnt be counting Cups on the PL official site... http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/players/profile.statistics.html/theo-walcott
Regardless, my point was just that Gervinho misses more oppurtunities to score. Im sure his shots to goals ratio is inferior. as soon as Gervinho addresses this issue he'll be one of the very best players in the league as he seems to glide past defenders with consumate ease. Walcott should score more though it's true but at least his assists are proving he does in fact possess a good final ball.
TheBear - no it doesn't !! If Walcott is in the position to produce 50 good final balls but only produces 10 for example, how does that mean he does possess a good final ball ?! Law of Averages I said and I am sticking to it. Walcott is poor.
Theo Walcott - 21 Prem starts, 2 sub, 3 goals, 7 assists, 56 shots, 23 on target. Gervinho - 15 Prem starts, 2 sub, 4 goals, 5 assists, 33 shots, 17 on target. The stats show Gervinho batters Walcott, better shot accuracy and better goal conversion
So if Theo would sell for lets say 15m. Who would people want in, for that price, who could do a better job on comparable wages? In my mind, there isn't anyone.
