Maybe Rodgers should have offered Moore, and Lita in part X, for said defender! I'd have been happy with that................ <laugh>

Dobbie started 26 games in the Championship last season & scored 11 goals , pretty darn good . Moore & Lita have started , through there limited opportunity , 6 games between them & scored 3 goals . That's a better ratio of scoring at a higher level ., a little respect for your productive premier players please . Cheers !

I still think it was an issue of logistics more than price although with Norwch competing the price would have gone up and shrank the time to complete the transfer through FIFA. I would probably have pulled the plug rather than risk having 3 million plus sitting in somebody else's bank account while we are paying wages for a player who can't even turn out for the reserves like Situ.

I don't see the issue. Brendan recommended a player, the board had a limit they were willing to pay and Norwich were happy to go higher than us. Fair play to them. It's no sign of disrespect towards Rodgers, he knows how the board operate. £3mil at this point of the season for a player who'd go into the squad as 4th choice centre-back? No ta!

Well it's a week since he was supposed to get the paperwork to sign.....after the Bolton game. I'm surprised we haven't heard anything else.

I'm sure BR would have been seeking assurance fom the board that they would be willing to back his ambition regards bringing in players. The Ryan Bennett transfer may have made him think twice......however, I agree that the timing may have been considered risky, and another Situ has been avoided.

Anyway, hopefully we will hear something soon.....before we secure Premier League status at Wigan !

I hope it's as simple as you guys being right & me being so , so wrong . I'll tell you one thing though , Rodgers wouldn't be snooping around Mariappa & Bennett late in the window without the original backing of the board for a central defender & the board knew what it would take financially to land either one . The proof will be in the contract negotiations with Buck , if there is no contract signature or even any talk about it with Buck from now till the end of the season , then Buck is still unhappy ... time will tell .

Lol ! . My take is being so close to being assured of staying up so soon & the transfer window still open , Buck wanted a top prospect central defender to play the better part of the rest of the season with Caulker playing less of a role so the new guy is ready for next season;s start . There probably isn't a Swan fan around who hasn't thought of landing another top CB since our rise , someone we actually own . Buck was saying all the nice things a manager says to soothe the team & fans about his contract , but he did add bits about it being pending on how the team committed to a transfer policy , not sure what happened with Bennett is what he had in mind . Barring everything else , we can't escape the fact he was frustrated ... he said so .

I think for all your speculating this is probably nearest to the truth. That and Bennett sounded a preference for Norwich & we offered a 1 month loan to help them find a replacement CB, all added up to a better deal for Posh.

"Bennett sounded a preference for Norwich".

Well, since he was actually en-route to South Wales when Swansea "pulled the plug",his "preference for Norwich" presumably surfaced at that point,or perhaps a while later. The player must have been rather confused, and distracted, at Swansea's change of heart, but he eventually found himself a new home at Carrow Road. Good for him,and good luck for the future,I say.

Apparently Bennett would have gone back on loan so so much for my theory (doh ) .

No ... but listening to a few quotes from Huw today , he sure wants him to sign it as quick as possible . Not much out of Brendan though . I think Jenkins knows that Rodgers is a bit thoughtful after the window shut & it's making Huw a bit nervous .
